I just changed Front and Rear brakes on my 2003 Navigator..and the size for all of the brake pad bolts was a 7mm allen key. I had to borrow one from a neighbor who works as a mechanic..

I hate those air suspension bag..so many problems,senors, compressors etc. I replaced it with coil spring, turn off suspension...been good ever since. The coil rides just as good as the air. By the way, thanks for sharing I'm actually looking to changing the rotors as well.

Around 6:15 viewers will hear the air suspension compressor turn on. Prior to jacking up any Navigator or Expedition with air suspension, it is imperative that you turn off the air suspension system. On a 2004 Navigator, the air switch is located behind an easy to remove cover in the very back interior on the drivers side. If you cannot locate the switch (which is shown in the owners manual), then disconnect the battery. When jacking up any Ford / Lincoln with air suspension, including Expeditions and Navigators, the air system may recognize a low pressure condition even though the ride height sensor is extended. It may then attempt to inflate the already extended and inflated air bag to a higher PSI under the faulty logic that there is a leak. In certain cases, once you remove the jack and the air strut is compressed under the weight of the vehicle, the air strut will then have too much pressure inside the air bag and you'll blow a seal / o ring or other. In this video , the up-loader says no damage was done. It is possible that his suspension was trying to raise one of the front corners back to level (there are 3 height sensors - front left / front right / rear center) ... Call any Ford / Lincoln service writer or mechanic and/or call any Discount Tire and they will confirm that you can damage the air suspension if you do not turn off the air switch. Bill K is correct on the location for my 2004 Lincoln Navigator. I would also advise against damaging the rotors if you intend to re-use them. If you do scuff the rotors, you might find a square block of wood and some metal sandpaper and do a hand "resurface" on both faces of the rotor. Thanks for uploading and sharing this video Ken - great work!!

B Mo I agree. One thing that I like to use so that I don't have to wedge something between the pad and the rotor is a big C clamp. Tighten one of those down directly on the back of the pad and it will compress the caliper and you can remove the brakes easily.

The turn off switch for your 2006 Lincoln Navigator air ride is located at the left rear by hatch... see your rear vent window on rear left there should be 2 doors, easily visible. Open smaller upper door there is a switch you must look for. Flick it off. Once vehicle is lowered turn on.

I think its a 7mm hex to remove the brake caliper. Viewers can try using a 7mm hex before trying the T45 (might vary by model year)

Thanks for the tutorial, how do you turn off the suspension.
@j916324 жыл бұрын
That's a 7 millimeter Allen key by the way

Its a 7mm hex bit rather than a T45. Doesn't show lubing pins as well as brake pad end "ears" which should freely adjust in caliper holding channel. Otherwise good.

7mm Allen wrench is the size for the bolt
@ronbaynes1798 жыл бұрын
That would be a 7mm Allen wrench or socket needed to remove the brake caliper.

can you add grease to the back side of the pads?
@randomvids111610 жыл бұрын
yes you can it prevents squeaking but ive never had a problem with squeaking so I don't bother with the mess

Ken Wiesner Did you have to use a C clamp at all?
@billk64949 жыл бұрын
The pads he used appear to already have DISC BREAK QUITE COATING APPLIED...

@randomvids11169 жыл бұрын
Haven't ever had that happen yet Also There is no way explained to shut the air suspension off anyway.
@randomvids11169 жыл бұрын
would if i could if i knew it was a problem But experience so far has done them no damage but thanks for your input.

Ken Wiesner well I have 2005 lincoln town car and there is a switch in the trunk that allows you to turn off the air suspension when changing tires or doing maintenance where the car will be partly or fully suspended. I made the comment because I could hear your air bag suspension compressor turning on and off in your video. Are you sure you have no switch somewhere in the car for that purpose?
@randomvids11169 жыл бұрын
diesel2421 No there isn't one But i don't think its a concern Just think what kind of damage it would cause taking this car 4X4ing if only hacking it up would damage it also I think its safe As I mentioned it have never hurt it before. Thanks again for the concern tho

@@randomvids1116 so,for rotors replacement you have to remove the cv axle nut?
