Hello, Changed mine last weekend and now I got brake shudder. Can it be from too much brake fluid(dot 5.1)? Or pistons and/or brake pin sliders dirty? Can you bend a brake disk(not the disk itself but it's mounting points) by pushing against it to get the pistons in? This is during heavy braking kzbin.info/www/bejne/a32riYKHrMuFncU - keep in mind the front tire didnt lock up, it was a violent brake shudder - i can feel it in the lever and you can also hear it, regardless of speed. Pads are new, same as the ones in your video.

The road was bumpy exactly where i started braking in my video, that explains the camera shake - but the vibration i get in the clip ons and also in the lever while braking makes me worry a lot.

@@TheGarage2018 It does. I took the 2 bolts that hold the caliper out, also the sliders, removed the pads, pressed on the lever to get more of the pistons out and cleaned the part that showed. Pushed them back in to stay flush with the caliper, cleaned the sliders using a wire brush, used sandpaper on the pads to remove the glazing(i know, you shouldn't but they were shinny and smooth).

@@TheGarage2018 Afterwards I used sandpaper also on the rotor and with brake cleaner to de glaze it and make it as clean as possible. Removed some of the DOT 5.1 fluid from the reservoir and put everything back together on both sides and now im 50-100 miles in and it feels better, no more lever vibration but i need to pump the brake 2-3 times before i go and ride because it feels soft. Why is that? As far as I can tell the liquid is above min with a air bubble when measuring it with full left lock.

Thanks for taking the time to film and post this! Good advice at the end re: pumping the brakes! I may have forgotten to do that a time or two and, yeah, it's a bit panic inducing... lol.

Great vid thanks! What are those rotors you’re running? And is stopping power good enough for the track?

They’re some one hung low brand Chinese rubbish, useless. They were on the bike when I bought it. Got rid of them. I recommend you stick with a name brand, I know they’re expensive but hey... you get what you pay for.

Do you have to bleed the brakes??

You don’t need to bleed the brakes if you’re only changing pads.

What could you tell about this chineese rotors in front ??? worth or not i used to buy ones and they have so massive loose on pins and make noise (oem rotors -20years old has no play on pins)
@TheGarage2018
@TheGarage2018 3 жыл бұрын
My advice is to avoid Chinese rotors like the plague! The quality of the steel they’re made out of is not great and they tend to warp under high thermal stress and will cause vibrations which can be dangerous at high speeds. The loose pins are designed that way, they’re called floating rotors and they’re engineered to allow for thermal expansion amongst other reason I’m not going to go into now. Stick to name brand rotors like the originals, EBC, BREMBO, etc.I hope this helps.

why are my disks blocking slightly? When I try it with my hand it goes harder. When I drive you can hear shhhhshhhshhhh...will it be repaired automatically? tnx disks are brembo
@TheGarage2018
@TheGarage2018 3 жыл бұрын
A minimum amount of rubbing is okay but if you feel too much resistance when you turn the wheel by hand then it might be time to rebuild your brake callipers, it’s very likely that the brake callipers pistons are sticking.
