Note for the video editor: AutoDoc do very good videos and it seems a shame to omit something as critical as ensuring a new copper crush washer is fitted to the drain plug before it is screwed back onto the sump!

Hi Guys, I noticed when you turned the ignition on the check engine light didn't illuminate. My E39 doesnt do this either, is this a common fault or did the E39 come from the factory like this? I don't expect you to have all the answers but it's worth a shot. Thanks Guys Great vids, keep it up 😁

@@autodocuk C'mon AutoDoc, you can do better than that. A simple Google search would easily reveal various KZbin links and other websites which clearly demonstrate how to perform this function. Usually if you search by year, make, model and engine type, you'll find the answer. Here is one link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp-rcqapZ7Ospbc This type of function could be considered an operator's responsibility. Granted, the owner's manual doesn't specifically tell you how to do this. And most likely AutoDoc is under legal constraint and can not endorse a certain website to do this simple function. But to say it's "impossible to answer your question" is straight nonsense. Don't make a vehicle owner go to a dealership or auto shop and pay too much money for something that takes about 1 min to accomplish. BTW, I liked the video, very easy to understand and I am a fan of AutoDoc. But don't steer a car owner in the wrong direction...check your alignment and give us straight, honest answers. Cheers!

Dont know if you quit watching the video thinking he didnt replace the oil. Yes he did😊 The filter is upside down compared with other filters. Adding oil wont help much. It would only flush down to the sump. ( if my car i would if its flushing down used oil😊. But one of the channels from there would circulate as unfiltered. Either way it getting filtered after engine start-up. I use to add some new oil after drained to flush out the rest of the old oil in the sump. I oilflushed a volvo v70 once.(which used a lot of oil). And i filled up with new oil enough so at least the pick up reached. And let the engine idle for a while. And then drained it again. And then i plugged the pan. Filled a bit enough to flood the bottom of the pan. And replaced the filtre. Drained the oil(2-3dl) and then filled it up to max. It went down on oul consumption. After a vacation drive back and forth 17 hours each way plus tours on vacation site. When coming home the oil was still transparent and chamoagne coloured. And havent sunk even a quarter to low on the dipstick. So that was a very succesful oilflush. But i learned to never do it a 2nd time. It smoked blue and started to use oil again and oil turned black the first day. So the first flush was enough. On the first one when draining oil it came out a lit of "sand" and grey gel like guuiyee. So thats why i flushed it with new clean oil 2 times between the chemical flush and filling the oil which was meant to stay. And now i am wondering if i dare to flush again(Bmw this time). After i read much more about flushing. I dont recommend chem flush. But if so lucky as the first time i did its recomendable. But i guess it is a gamble. If pieces of dirty oil loosen and ruin engine in aftertime. But it was cool to see that it took 11-13 months before the engine turned black again😊
