Just wanted to add something. At least on my 2014 Ford Focus, you want to reset the Oil Life Monitor System. To do this, -Turn on the car (do not start the engine) -Press the gas and brake at the same time -Keep gas and brake pressed -Confirm reset -After 25 seconds, the message should confirm reset -Release gas and brake Cheers!
@torrez8144 Жыл бұрын
i thought your supposed to turn the key to on not turn the car all the way on?
@mal1272 Жыл бұрын
@@torrez8144 That is a good point I should have clarified. You don't want to turn the engine on and then press the gas + brake otherwise you are going to a burnout in the driveway.

Quick tip so that oil filter doesn't get too tight to take off. Unscrew the oil filter just a bit to get it loose before you take off the oil plug all the way. It creates a suction effect when you take off the plug and usually makes it a bit harder to take off the oil filter.
@d_manoil16472 жыл бұрын

My daughter has a 2014 Focus. Debating if I should show my daughter this way of doing it herself for her first oil change or introduce her to the joys (and expenses) that comes with a Jiffy-Lube change. Maybe if she feels that sting of paying $60 for what she can do herself for a fraction of that cost... Always cool to be able to whip up a video on the topic for a 10 minute guide to what I will find when we jack it up. Thank you guys! Some Conan Mechanic is always cranking on oil filters like their life depended on it. Your video also made me notice the rear battery cover plate is missing from her car... it only has that front section and the firewall side of her battery is uncovered. Helping out in ways you never intended!

Great video. About the oil filter, Ford recommends the FL-910. However, if you can't find one of that size, you can also use the more common FL-400. It is a bit longer but fits just fine under the Focus with no clearance problems at all.
@THEFIFTHDIMENTION4 жыл бұрын
Easy. I like how easy it is to change because it’s under the car and not on the side like some cars you have to crawl your hand inside the engine to get the filter out

Hi I have a 2014 ford focus 2.0 litre and went to your video for instruction on how to change the oil filter. When I lifted the bonnet there was no oil filter housing under the air filter housing. I eventually found it at the other end of the engine located behind the oil filler pipe with very restricted access. Is there a video on youtube for this filter change. Regards Mick

@sashanovohatski23823 жыл бұрын
@@kamryn7496 It's not only that, the engine with only 48000km on my 2017 Focus is already burned quite a bit of the oil. The exhaust pipe is covered in thick black residues and the dipstick showing a 1/2 a level below the upper mark with 3.5000km to the next oil change. I went with that to the Ford dealership and to make the story short i spoke to the garage mechanic and he says that Ford considering this as it's normal now if its burns up to 1l of oil between changes. It hit me like a stone to the head. I checked the tailpipes on the other newer Fords on their parking lot and all of them are heaving thick black residues on the inside. And it's not the only problem it has. I had before the 2010 Focus and its exhaust pipe was always clean and it never burns oil. It has some other issues like the rocker panel rust but mechanically was good. So the quality of their cars is sinking with every new model showing on the market. Shame to the Ford.
