A brilliant video, never did fork seals till today and it really helped...I would only add one comment though (and it mau or may not be bike specific, i am not a mechanic so cannot say for sure), but I spent over an hour trying to remove the "cup" that the bottom of the for internal sits into, could not get it out for love nor money...it came loose but would not drop out...so I gave up and used a rod to push it back in, I had no issues at all to get the fork back together again even leaving it in (it took me 10 seconds to locate the internal into the cup)...It was so quick infant that I didn't even bother trying to get it out of the second fork and took less than 40 minutes for me to remove it, do what you showed in the video and put it back on the bike, and this was the first time I have ever tried doing forks on any bike.

I bought the Haynes book, so that helps a lot, but I really love this type of video that you made with the fork and the steering bearings...please keep them coming :D Best regards from Norway :D

Very informative video albeit I refuse to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a seal driver kit and fluid level devise. You can adapt pp waste pipe to make your own driver & rigid plastic tubing of suitable small bore size with a syringe for determining the fluid level.

fantastic! You explain how to turn first and then adjust the preload screw at the top of the fork. Now when i look at my own bike ( also CBR600F make 2001 ) I see that there is also such a screw on the bottom of the fork. Wich can also be turned between S ans H. What do you have to do with this adjustment screw? Remove firs or just leave it or..? I also saw a smal hole at the bottom of the damper rod in the video. Does it have to fit in there perhaps or not? And in what way should this be adjusted?

Hi again, does the outer bush fit over the lower bush i.e. is it meant to slide over it?. I've managed to take out the seal today, however, was a pain and I had to use some heat also, when I was bashing the stanchion to get the seal out the stanchion kept getting caught and I had to use a mallet to push it back and try again, when everything came out I discovered the inner bush was getting caught on the inside of the outer bush and it's stripped some of the coating. Not sure if they're meant to slide over each and the coating is residue build up over the years? Kindly advice and much appreciated..

It all slides fine until that damper bolt goes in. I found someone else with the same issue in the link below, he dremeled his, which I am not a fan of doing. There is a plastic white piece which seems to be acting as the damper cylinder seat. But that is flush to the bottom of the fork so I thought it was meant to be there, looks like that piece is what is clamping the while thing down... katriders.com

Lucky your not on a bonus system in a dealership. Would get a bonus doing it like that. Even tho it is the correct way. Corners need to be cut.Don't even take them apart, screwdriver works fine, dust seal covers most of the damage if any happens. clean with brake cleaner fill with correct amount. If it's a few ml out who's going to notice. That's just what I heard gets done in dealerships. How would I know. lol
