Good info. I had an older Kwikset with the metal piece and no visible tangs for the lock cylinder. I used a small drift inserted from the back side and rapped it on the workbench. The cylinder popped right out. Everything else was the same as yours.

Awesome video, worked like a charm. I didn't have a fancy pick but I have plenty of screwdrivers. Quite difficult to get 2 in at the same time so I got one with a 2" common nail so I could get a screwdriver in the other side. 😎

This video is awesome. what some people may not deal with is if the key cylinder is upside down it will more prone to the key pins getting frozen from water intrusion since the pins will now be on the bottom for the water to pool into. the process is quick quick with the three tools you used. Sad part is kwikset will tell you to get a locksmith to do it. costing more then the handle itself.in the directions for handle instaall they actual stat it is fine to install upside down.

@@CJsINFO Tried that. No luck. Took the door lock to the local locksmith, hoping that would be cheaper than buying a new knob and getting keys copied. He said the knob had one wrong-sized pin in it, changed that and existing keys worked smoothly again. Nice guy - he only charged me $15. Less than the price of a new door lock so I’m happy.

OMG. I can't do all that. I installed a new lock and it is upside down because of how the mechanism is set - as in your video. Is it upside down because of the way the door swings open? Do they make two different locks so you don't have to do all this malarky? Thanks for the video!
