This is actually a very bad way of doing this. Today I tried desoldering old switches because I want to replace all of them on a 60% keyboard. I've used the soldering iron for the first time in my life and I was able to remove 15 switches in about 10 minutes with no problem at all. I've used a desoldering pump. And I first removed the solder from both pins and only after that I removed the switch. This way you won't damage yourself and also it's safer for the board itself because you apply less strain to it.
