Great video! If I may add two suggestions: it is advisable to replace the drain plug washer, it is either aluminium or copper. Of course you never can find those washers in your toolbox when you really need them, I got around it by turning the washer around. The old oil filter comes off easier when the engine is still warm, which is a good idea anyway, to increase oil flow when getting the old oil out. Never over tighten the oil filter, I don't know if there is a Nm specification in the manual, but I have always stuck with "hand tight, plus a quarter turn" for every oil filter, and it has always worked. The rubber seal will swell as soon as the oil gets warm, and the filter threads will etch themselves stuck as they go through many heat cycles.

Stelvio still at the dealer's shop. Guzzi made a mistake 4 times on the part that needs to be changed (right exhaust rocker arm)... It takes so long, I feel like I live in Canada... Went to test ride the 700 TENERE this week. I get why you like it. The engine is reminding me of the Stelvio with his gentle vibrations only a V-twin once could provide. Kudos to Yamaha for that. And I took it for 5 miles offroad, you will love it! So light and agile. It might be a contender to be my next bike along with the V85TT or maybe a Triumph Tiger 900... First, gotta get my Stelvio NTX back.. Maybe in 2 weeks... See ya!

I really, really hate to be the bringer of possible bad news, but as a current 8v Guzzi owner myself I have been thru this already and URGENTLY advise you to make sure whether you currently have 'flat tappets' or 'roller tappets' in your engine. The latter means no worries, keep on smilling :) The former means you're in danger because your engine could seize while you're riding, and you know what that means. Even if your engine doesn't seize, with flat tappets it will be slowly destroying itself and soon you will need a new engine, the damage will be irreparable. The American forum below is for the Griso, but the engine is identical to the Stelvio, the post below shows how to find out which tappets you have, flat or roller. This problem isn't unique to Guzzi, early KTM motors had the same problem. Basically the flat tappets have a DLC (diamond like coating) that gets slowly hammered off by the cams starting from day one. This fine diamond like grit then goes thru the engine and wears EVERYTHING out rapidly, including the big ends, the resulting loss of oil pressure means the entire engine is then wrecked. Guzzi didnt really want to know about the problem, nor does Piaggio who now own guzzi, but in some cases, providing there is a good maintenance history, guzzi paid for the replacement parts and the owner had to pay for labour. No, no. I didn't film picking up the bike while the oil was draining so I had to use some of the footage of me sitting on it after the oil was full. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but not that bad. Cheers.
