Thanks, this was helpful, I had no oil pressure on cold start(at 500rpm idle) and slightly lower when warmed up. Then I started hearing ticking

Put a new oil pump in It, otherwise it will run a while like that but the top end gets starved from oil and the cam and lifters will probably go out

Always use compressed air to remove debris from around the sensor before removing.

I have no oil pressure when i start my truck and no oil pressure shows up on the dash. And i have to turn it off. Im gonna try this and maybe it will solve this problem. Thanks

Did you have an oil screen under the sensor, noticed the new trucks have them and I got one in case I own a 2005 I’ve heard some do and some don’t 2005 5.3 working on it this weekend

Yeah some do have that filter. Never heard of it till the other day. I'm in process of getting mimes replaced, I purchased a filter I'm case my 4.8 has one.

I broke the plastic clip that locks the sensor, can I still put it on and hold it down with tape ?

Yeah, just remember you might need to replace the tape over time. It should stay in for the most part

Before you replace the oil pressure sensor did you have any ticking noise . Theirs cases once you replace the sensor the ticking sound goes away,?

Turned my truck on today and received a oil pressure low and gauge was at 0. After a few tries of starting it went back up to around 40. Did you have the same issue to have to change this? I hope it's this and nothing else..engine sounds normal so I'm assuming its this..thank you in advanced

there was no filter screen under this sensor? because i’m working on my 2005 sierra with the 5.3L and mine does not have a screen. although some videos i watched showed a screen below the sensor. if you could write me back i’d appreciate that!

It's possible if the sensor is not tightened correctly, or the washer on the sensor is broken. Otherwise a leak on top like can be coming from the intake manifold.

My oil pressure when warm is about 20 psi on the dash at idle and when I rev it up a little it will go to a little past 25 psi but when it is cold it’s about 30 psi at idle until it warms up what was your oil psi reading on the dash before you changed this?

Your oil pressure should be 40 PSIG. Your problem is caused by a bad o ring on your oil pickup tube. You'll need to drop your oil pan to get to the pickup tube and replace the o ring. The problem you have is like sucking soda though a straw with a hole in it.
