By the way the old Pachmayr Colt d frame rubber grips also fit the new Cobra revolvers perfectly and they fit the hand perfectly too!

Please do a video on cleaning the 2020 Colt Python. The owners manual is a little vague(?) on what is acceptable as far as field stripping the firearm to properly clean it without voiding the factory warranty.

Would be nice if the KC Target grips were made for sale from Altamont. The only wood grips they have for sale for the current models are the little 2-finger grips that go on the Cobra.

And they suck. Very uncomfortable grip because altamont couldn't be bothered to sand a little more to make a smooth transition from the stocks to the frame. Also, the medallions are crooked as hell.

My thoughts exactly. The reason why the Diamondbacks didn’t sell well back in the 60’s 70’s and 80’s was because it was chambered for 38 special. I used to haunt the gun shops back in that time and whenever there was a Diamondback in the case that was one of the first things people would say : why didn’t Colt make it in 357!?

Colt D frames are IDEA FOR MULTI CALIBER options. And a Diamondback in .357 would be arguably the best revolver in the world in that caliber due to materials, workmanship, size and overall quality.

@ Arrowhead 1976 . Essentially your right. The very reason for the vent rib on both the Python and Diamondback was to lighten those two revolvers and give them better balance. The first Python prototype didn’t have a ventilated rib and was considered to be, and rightfully so too muzzle heavy, hence the switch to the ventilated rib. The Diamondback ventilated rib was made on the Python machinery and so it mimics the balance of its big brother. And it brings the weight down to between 28-29 ounces. The King Cobra according to Colts website weighs in at 36 ounces making it a great deal heavier. While this extra weight may be desirable on a range gun it makes it unnecessarily heavy for a carry gun. I don’t understand why Colt can’t make both therefore giving the buyer more options.Basically all that Colt has to do is make a Diamondback barrel and stick it on the King Cobra Target frame and voila you have a Diamondback 357 magnum. But I have my doubts that Colt will do that and if they do it’ll happen with all the speed of movement of a glacier. And I don’t believe that Colt manufacturing really pays attention to its customers . I highly doubt that they even read the comments section of their own KZbin channel.

Does the hogue sku 47000 rubber grips fit the new colt king cobra target model? I know they make them for the 3” king cobra, but some reviews here and there say they don’t fit the target 4” models. But there is only sku47000 on their website, which obviously fits the 3” version, since they come with hogues from the factory.

@@chiefsideshow yes, hogue makes rubber grips under sku 48000. Sku 47000 won’t fit the new model. Sku 48000 is not advertised very well. Also after getting them, and realizing I hate rubber grips in general, I got badger grips, the only company making anything right now in wood for that revolver. Hogue makes really beautiful wood grips but only for the old colt king cobra. So for now I am using the badger grips. There is no felt recoil with 38+p and with magnums the gun muzzle flips more than with the rubber grips thus making it a completely painless experience, since no recoil goes directly into your wrist like the rubber grips. Hard to describe but I was impressed actually. Still I would prefer the beautiful style wood grips made by hogue, and wish they made them for this gun.

The screw on my grip is tight but the grip has a little wiggle to it... I have the Colt 6in Barrel python it shoots a tight group better than I can shoot for now but it does need a trigger job the triggers too heavy

I don't like the red ramp sight, nor the fiber optic sights. I want the beaded pat sight. Where is that sight?

I have replaced grips on Smith and Wessons with Miculek and wood Hogue gips. This Altamont wood grip is beyond my capabilities or the engineering is flawed. Now I have to take it to a gun smith. With the pandemic going on and losing my gun smith after 20 years just last year I am really disappointed with Colt and Altamont. I can't get the escutcheon machine screw started and no I did not over tighten it. Today, I will stick with Smith and Wesson from now on.

Make sure you don't screw up the screw while screwing in the screw, or you'll be screwed.

Older Colt da revolvers came with grip pins to allow installing other grips. Personally , I don’t like Hogue grips and immediately remove them . As a courtesy bro customers Colt should install the pins or include them . I am planning on purchasing a King Cobra Target 22, and the Hogue grips will go from gun to garbage can. Quite Honestly, the revolver ER should come with wood grips. I plan on pairing mine up with a nickel 38 Diamondback, and would like similar grips, so would others
