Many thanks! I didn't realize I needed to add water over the fingers before adding sand. Easy peasy.

Same filter I'm working on but the sand is hard as a rock and the shop vac don't work. I'm going to cut the standpipe with a cheese saw🤷🏻♂️ I needed to unthread the standpipe to get it out of the way. Design flaw in my opinion. Thx for the video

Thanks for this video. I think there is a better way to drain the sand, though. At least with my TA 60, there is a "sand plug" in addition to the drain plug at the bottom of the tank. (The drain plug actually screws into the larger sand plug on the tank). Unscrew the entire sand plug plug, and a good amount of the sand will flow out with the water. I stick a hose in the top of the filter to help the sand out the bottom. My Shop Vac would have a tough time pulling out the wet sand.

@jandjhofmann I found the part. It is called a "sand guide." Part number 155051. I picked one up at a local pool supply store for five bucks. Very handy because it keeps the standpipe centered and sand free while you pour the new sand into the filter.

Hey so I just installed one of these and missed the part in the instructions where it says fill with water first then sand so I did sand first, can I still fill it with water or am I screwed and have to empty the sand first?

OOORRR! remove bottom plug to drain. My t80 has an internal filter, I had to use the back square of the plug to remove it to let the sand out. The vac does not work very well with wet sand. Found out the hard way. After plug and internal filter were removed from the bottom it took one minutes to empty it with a hose to assist.

You haven’t said anything about that basket that was not on the sexual way valve. It didn’t come out of the tank until after this individual sucked some of the sand out. Why were they detached, because when you re-insert the sexual way valve at the end of the process the baskets already attached to it again.

Hi! How do I dispose of the old sand? Do i just throw it in the trash?
@BontragerPools13 жыл бұрын
@GeneralG1810 If they are the snap in kind you want them down. If they twist in try to get them down. Then there are some that are perfurated all the way around. Just depends what you have.... just need to make sure they are snug.

I have everything I need to change the sand in the filter. I am actually going with zeobrite which my friend uses and was very happy last year with the results. My question is this, I have the old style Tagelus TA40 with the TM12A multi port valve on top. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove it. I am afraid to snap something off in the process. Is it a screw in top, a pop in top or any other kind of top. If you can provide the answer I assure you I would be grateful. Cheers.

Hi, Hope u can help . the label on my sand filter is un0readable, how do I find out how much sand is required. Also,the pump is very old, in your opinion is it cheaper to replace the pump or have it serviced? There is hardly any suction at the skimmers, and I can only clean the pool on the waste setting as, there is not enough suction to do it any other way, also have to clean real slow , which uses a lot of water , each clean.. regards RT
