What made be happy today is the beauty of the little things. After 3 months of quarantine in Milan, now I am in the countryside with my family and today it was a simple day that I spent with my little cousins (which I hadn’t seen since Christmas) and I studied a bit and played the violin. This was a simple day which reminded how important it is to appreciate the little things we have in life.

what made me happy today was... played my violin 🎻🎻🎻 my city ( Huaraz - Perú) is on quarentine after 117 days so we can't leave our houses until August...😱😱 it's unbelievable 😰 but I'm using this time to practice like never before, and it really makes me happy 🤗 I have never tried expensive strings, so would be wonderful play with this kind of strings 😱😱😱 sorry for my bad English, I don't know if I wrote good 🤣 anyway, I liked your video, thanks for the recommendations 🤗 blessings!!! 🤗🤗

What made me happy today is finally I found a violin teacher I can afford and at a schedule that works for me! I haven't played the violin for 14 years and just recently decided to pick it up again. I could say Ive been successful in the almost one month I've been relearning by myself but nothing beats having feedback from a teacher.

I've been changing strings every few months for more years than I care to think about but still found this tutorial really helpful. Here's a couple of further comments that I hope will be useful. (1) New strings take a few days to stretch out, which makes it difficult to tune four new strings all at once. Change strings in pairs. Start with the E and D, give them a couple of days to stabilize, then do the A and G. This gives you a stabilized, adjacent string to help you tune each new string. (2) Especially in warm, humid weather, the pegs can get very stiff and hard to adjust. One way to help this is to wind the strings so that the wound strings don't crowd up against the wall of the peg box and create extra friction. After you've passed the string through the hole in the peg, pull the peg out a little ways and take a couple of turns to the inside of the peg box. Then cross the string over the hole and take up the remaining turns toward the outside of the peg box. See if this doesn't leave a little space between the wound string and the peg box wall. (3) Strings age slowly but pretty steadily, so it's easy to forget how new strings sound. I play an hour or two nearly every day; I've settled on a scheduled change around every six months, When the time comes round, I'm still always surprised at how the new strings brighten up the sound of the instrument. (4) Modern strings are pretty hardy, but I still like to keep a set of used strings in the case for when I or someone in the group breaks a string: it happens. Thanks, Sumina: your videos are a help and an inspiration!

Today, I went to a clinic after having bad leg pain due to diabetic neuropathy. I have so much dreams of travelling and studying music and I fear that time is running out for me. What made me happy is that my health care providers realistically addressed my concerns and helped me with exercises that alleviate the pain. I am driven to live one day at a time and to enjoy each moment each time. As a bonus, even got to practice today!

What made me happy not just today but recently is rediscovering my passion for the violin! As a healthcare employee, working during this pandemic has been really draining and I haven’t felt the motivation for any of my hobbies including the violin. But I recently found my old classical playlist, and decided to pick up the violin again!

I have this summer job where I do yard work and pick up garbage from around the town, together with four other people my age. This is our last week at work and today I felt I was really able to talk to them and have fun while we were cleaning up some plantings. I feel like I’ve learned a lot from these people, and that maybe they have learned something from me too. I’m happy about the conversations about big and small things that I’ve had with them. I’m happy to see people of my generation care about the world and the people of this planet. These co-workers have in different ways made me feel hopeful and I’m happy for that too. Maybe I’ll never meet these four people again but I’m happy I took my time to listen to them and talk to them. It’s actually a little sad there’s only three days left of us working together :’)

Last year shortly after I started at uni, I started to experience shoulder pain and this last year has been a roller coaster with ups and downs. During (the kind of) lockdown in my country, I moved back home which meant that I stopped getting the treatment that I was getting, so the pain and discomfort kind of came back. I have used my quarantine time to learn more about my body and how I use it in order to increase my practicing-time. So what made me happy today was that I was able to practice and play more than I have been able to play in several weeks. (Loved this video by the way:)

I’m a violinist playing for around 5 years and don’t have an extra set of strings at home so I would really like the strings. I’m just so happy that during quarantine I’ve finally finish learning and performing Mozart’s fourth violin concerto in D Major. It’s been my dream piece to play ever since 3 years after starting violin from twoset.

I'm happy today, because I'm glad my mum made me pick up the violin when I was 14 years old. Initially I hated the violin and questioned why I should learn a 2nd instrument when I already play the piano! Fast forward to today, I can easily bring my violin with me wherever I go and play it whenever I feel bored or just need some music to lift me up! Whereas a piano, I can't possible bring it with me in a suitcase. I moved to a different location due to COVID-19 where there is no piano. So I'm happy at least I still have my violin with me :)

My country doesn't motivate the teaching of classical instruments, it's extremely difficult and expensive to maintain a violin and find a teacher. So what made me happy today is finally being able to overcome fear, panic and anxiety and record again for my channel! I've been trying to learn to play for 4 years, and I feel frustrated and sad at times. I think most of the time. But I love to play and I wanted to meet more people who play and share what I find out. So I find motivation to continue, even when I'm desperate.

I looked back at some videos from two years ago of me playing the first song I learned by ear. I started crying because I realized that even though it was tough, I improved a lot since when I first picked up the violin and when I filmed the video. Even though I am by no means a "great" player in everyone's eyes, I was able to look past the hateful words of strangers who heard me play, and I improved. Now I can play more of my favorite music by ear and I just use the criticism to work on my weaknesses! My violin lifts my mood everyday!

This was REALLY helpful. Thank you! I have some suggestions, if you are interested. Visit your luthier and ask about their services, how they become a luthier, their favorite job, their worst job, etc. Tell us about your family! I'd love to hear your mother sing, and your father play piano. Your sister is a wonderful cellist! Give us your advice for people starting the violin. Tell us about your childhood with the violin, and perhaps any plateaus or challenges you faced. You are SUCH a great host! As a happily married father of two, I am just starting my violin journey. Watching a great host like you gets me excited for violin. Best wishes from Canada!

What made me happy today was that against all the situation, work or problems, to the end of the day I can trust that a single note can make me all the day. You do not need great or expensive things to be happy. You only need something as the music your soul and somebody else too. What made me happy is that I could catch up with one of my friends that I hadn’t seen in a while and remember all the good times we have had together. Congrats for 100k!
