How to Change the Code on Simplex Locks for Pistol Safes with mechanical locks

This video is on how to change the code or combination on all Simplex lock pistol safes. It doesn't matter if it's a Amsec, Titan, Fort Knox, or Stealth Pistol safe. BTW these locks are also used on wall safes, security door knobs etc. These instructions are generally generic.

Does the 2&4 +3 right turn mean the combo has never been set? After you set 12345 does the 2&4+3 right turn still open? Thx, I’ve been trying to get in to my new purchase RV for several weeks now...lol

+bob king You’re correct, that’s the factory original combination and it had not been changed. This lock can only hold one combination at a time. When you’re putting in a new combination, it’s removing the original factory combination at the same time. Good question thank you for watching, John

I have watched over a half a dozen videos on these Simplex locks, and have read over a dozen articles, but I STILL do not know what constitutes a valid combination. As I understand it, a number can only be used once, but, is a "combo" of 2 numbers unique, or does it make both of those numbers ineligible in the remainder of the combination? Does a "combo" of 2 numbers count as 1 of the 5, or 2 of the 5? If, for example, I press 1 and 3 at the same time, does that mean my only other possible numbers are 2, 4, and 5? Seems like any inquisitive child could crack any combination in a day or two, unless I'm not understanding something. I've heard the maximum number of unique combinations is 1081. Is this true? Again, I'm just trying to figure out what exactly is considered as a valid combination. 5 "single" presses with no repeating number presumably, but, how does that change when a "combo" is entered? And can more than one combo be entered? For example, can a valid combination be "1+3", "2+5", and "4"?

Lots to unwrap here but let me answer the easy ones. If you use two buttons in combination you’ve lost those two numbers, So you have three left to use. In your example where you use a pair and another pair and then a single number works great. Also nothing says you must use all five numbers you could put in just one number and leave it at that. The estimate of 1084 does not take into account using two numbers at the same time or any variation other than five numbers. After dealing with these locks for almost 50 years I can tell you the problem isn’t what combination you put in the problem is getting lazy and not putting in New combination when they get the safe. That’s why I republished this excellent video from stealth safe they did a great job, best instructions I’ve ever seen. I hope I’ve solved some of your questions. Thank you for watching, John

Your best bet is to call the factory from where the Safe came from. This really needs to be walked through step-by-step on the phone. their The factories are way more Familiar with helping on the phone than just about anybody. Best of luck, John
