Today I'm showing you how to change the Divi Theme Builder header menu when scrolling, which enables a transparent to color background change!

Fixed, Transparent, And Changing Divi Header - Combining All The Header Tutorials Together
As we go through our Divi header series, you probably notice a few of our tutorials overlap a little. This one works perfectly with two of our other tutorials. Our last one showed us how to create a fixed header in the Divi Theme Builder, and the one before that showed how to have a transparent header with the Divi Theme Builder. This tutorial combines the fixed and transparent tricks and adds on a new one. This Divi tutorial will show you how to change the Divi header when scrolling!

omfg i love you so much. Thank you! I've been searching for a while now. Please have my babies. EDIT: I really hate how Divi prevents you from adding custom CSS if you select an option in their menu like the background colour (they add !important after everything)....

Your tutorials are gold. You touch up on many difficult topics and issues that we run into when building websites with Divi. Even coming from the perspective of someone who is familiar with web development, these tutorials really get to the heart of some common problems that we run into when using Divi. They are super helpful. Keep up the excellent work. I'm glad I found your channel. You definitely have another subscriber here.

Finally a solution that worked for me. Thank you so much! In my opinion it is also the best solution to solve layout shifts issues (cls) that keep popping up in connection with custom headers in Theme Builder. To prevent the default spacing for header section and row from being loaded first, I have also defined them in the global CSS. Keep it up! Liked and subscribed!

If you dont do this in the theme builder there is no way to add the class. The only thing you need to change is the selector in the javascript. Change ".pa-header" to "#main-menu" and this will work. Great video, Thanks very much.

Love your vids thank you!! I wonder if you, or anyone else in the know here might give a little addition: when starting to scroll down, the menu (remaining fixed briefly, and changing background AND shrinking, like you show in your other superstar video) would then after maybe one second disappear, then when starting to scroll up again, the menu would handily appear again, anticipating navigational needs! In other words: Hide the menu on scroll down and show on scroll up (having shrunk and changed bg) :)

I see that you always include the code snippets in the Divi theme options. Can I do the same but instead on the theme include in a code module inside a section? And the css can be included in the section, row module?
@PeeAyeCreative
@PeeAyeCreative 4 жыл бұрын
There are six places you could put code, but I would not recommend using the code module. It's best to put it in your child theme, but I usually say "Theme Options" because I know I have beginners who don't have child themes and that's fine. So the best place I recommend is the Theme Options. Even if you were wanting the code to affect a certain page, it's still best.

How do we adjust this so that it only happens on desktop? The effect doesn't fit the mobile style since its menu is different.
@PeeAyeCreative
@PeeAyeCreative 3 жыл бұрын
You could simply choose to show this on Desktop by clicking the responsive icon and selection the position for Desktop only.

How can I change also the text color when scrolling?
@PeeAyeCreative
@PeeAyeCreative 3 жыл бұрын
You would simply target the text with CSS with the fixed class. When you scroll, that fixed class takes effect and then put whatever you want there with .et_pb_text etc.

Sure, so if you were targeting the link color of the menu items, you could use .pa-fixed-header .et_pb_menu li a

@@PeeAyeCreative I meant that you have a "background image", but its not part of the global header, So How you do to be part of it? Because as I see is part of the page. Sorry for my english.

Try adding !important to the color and it will work.

Hey Man ! Love your tutorials ! I dont know why but it didnt work for me. When i put the section to fixed and background to reset, i get a white menu background but the transition to black works. The problem is just that at the beginning the menu is not transparent its white. Is it possible that the divi update is causing that ? How should i fix this ? Thank you !

Pee-Aye Creative Hey man, yeah followed the tutorial from the beginning. So when the section backround is Set to transparent, i get It transparent But then the css doesn’t do its thing as you explained in the video (nothing happens). And when I change the section background to default (empty) as you explained, then the css works but before the scrolling I get white menu instead of transparent. What could be causing the problem ? Thanks man, you are doing an awesome job !

@@S1EID If you get white instead of transparent, it sounds like you do not have it set as Position>Fixed. Do you? I'll need a link to troubleshoot more.

@@PeeAyeCreative Thank you for your answer. Im currently developing on localhost. Can you please check if this is working for you with the Divi 4.4.2 which is the version i currently have ? Maybe the cause of that is the newer version. Thank you !

How can I do the same but instead of changing the color, I want to remove the logo on one page only, but at the same time on the same page when I scroll I want the logo to show up only in the fixed menu bar? The reason for this is that I have the logo in a different place on the home page, so I learned how to hide it on one page from menu bar; but I need it in the fixed menu; my code hides everything: .page-id-YOURPAGEIDNUMBER #logo { display: none; }

All you have to do is set a different header template in the Theme Builder for that page where you don't want the logo. About changing the logo, I'll have a tutorial soon about that.

Great tutorial. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to recreate the header on this website: www.ruckusmarketing.com I know Divi just came out with their sticky feature. Is there a way to combine what you show in your video (although it would need to be the opposite - transparent first and then a solid color) with the sticky feature? I'm having trouble figuring out how to make this. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the sticky feature, but with my tutorial you could just do the opposite, right?
