I was taking down Christmas decorations the past two days, and had considered tossing a couple of our older ones because the lights are practically totally dim...this seems like an easy enough fix! I'll have to give it a shot. Great video!

@@christopherscott8272 leave yourself enough wire to make a good connection. I sealed the splices with a hot glue gun to prevent moisture intrusion, and wrapped them with tape to keep them from shorting. It’s *probably* a one and done fix- meaning, you might not get to repair it twice. Start with one light, see how it works out for you before moving on to the rest.

The butt connectors are also called "scotchlocks", the are for connecting phone wires. I saw them at Lowe's near the phone and tv wire section. On my display, the power regulator module got wet and fried. I saw the flicker module has a 25v capacitor. I reasoned the regulator must have put out about 18volts. I tried 12v but it was very dim so i wired an 18v supply from junked modem. I felt it was a bit too much so I added a 10 ohm power resistor at the 18v output to help limit current. There are lots of different light options on these. Thanks for the video.

Lights work great, but those connectors are quite a disappointment. I can see why you went that route, but for me it didn't help ended up just stripping the ends on both lights and existing wire and twisting together. Used the butt connector over the twisted end more like a wire nut at that point. Did get them rewired though and the added brightness is perfect. Nice tip on the lights.

@tbolls
@tbolls 2 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure what you mean. But the last one will.have wires on the other side... just wrap them.up in electrical tape. The 3rd one maybe has loose wires, try connecting them again.
@michaell276
@michaell276 Жыл бұрын
Ok so you replaced all four leds? The one that isnt working, 3rd? is likely defective if the 4th in the series is working. Replace the 3rd set again. To terminate the wires on the 4th (last) use the hot glue to seal them and prevent grounding out from touch or water. That's how I seal all my connections.
@michaell276
@michaell276 Жыл бұрын
If the 3rd and 4th aren't working, then the issue is likely that you have a bad connection either leaving led 2 or entering led 3. Or that piece of wire is bad. Ignore the butt connectors. Just strip the ends around 1/2 inch and twist them together. Make sure to match the wire with the stripes. Then use hot glue to seal them up.

You can but they tend to be free floating within the inflatable. The wires however will be anchored with nylon rope throughout it so if you cut the wires you need to make sure you dont lose the anchor points. It's much easier to just buy LED replacements. Search am azon for c7 e12 led bulbs. Most of those should be the right size but you can read the reviews. If people used them for inflatables someone will mention it. Keep in mind 2700 is yellowish light. 5k and higher is white light. I keep both on hand and use whichever fits the inflatable better.
