Wow, great video! Thanks for posting this. I had no idea the oil filter was of a new design and located at the top of the engine. You helped me out tremendously as I was looking all over the bottom portion for a sign of an oil filter I have been used to changing on all my vehicles in the past.

My new Chrysler 300 has a canister type filter. It will be my first time messing with this style filter so this video was good for me. See you in March! I have the same engine too.

A couple extra tips on the 3.6 in a transverse application. The engine cover just pops free if you lift it up. Gives you a lot more access and visibility on the top of the engine and oil filter. Look really close at the bottom of the filter housing where it attaches to the top of the engine. They tend to seep oil as the o-rings age. Catch it early and it's a good thing. If you don't have a lift/ramps or want to go under the vehicle an oil extractor works really well on them as the transverse oil pan is flat and you can easily hit the bottom. Watch which oil filter you get. There is one that has 4 tabs and the other has a short tower on top. One if for the early engine the other for the later engine. The early filter will fit in the late unit but it will not filter the oil as it is held above the seat in the housing.

The 3.6L is only 5 quarts of oil. The 5.7L is 6 quarts
