How about an oil filter wrench instead of driving a screwdriver through the filter to losen it? It works in a pinch, but if you're changing your oil regularly, I'd get a filter wrench. Other than that good job!

I couldn’t find a filter wrench small enough locally and had to order one online. The screwdriver thing was because I hadn’t purchased a filter wrench yet.

You can't just go buy any 10w40 oil! You need to point out there is a difference between automobile and motorcycle oil because motorcycles have a wet clutch. It's obvious to some but not all that the oil needs to be 4t (4 stroke) and not 2t. It needs to meet JASO MA, MA1 or MA2. And it needs to meet API SG or higher (SH, SJ, SL, SM or the newest version SN). A 17mm wrench is the same as 11/16.

That is a good point. Thanks for sharing. I always use the oil recommended by the manufacturer and usually the stuff from the manufacturer. I have only ever used Kawasaki oil in my Vulcan.
