Mine with a plastic oil drain guide and I prefer the one that you worked up. The one that came with it didn’t even go down at an angle and all the oil just backed up and was all over that platform so I’m going to rig me some up like you did thank you for the video and help me out a lot.

Tip for drain nut; I took two 21mms one with a 1/2 drive and put a lug nut inbetween to break it loose and tighten it back up. Don’t waste money on a socket that you’ll only need for one application.

Great vid. Google the "Drainzit" oil change hose. It'll change your life. (Well maybe not, but it will make the oil changes on these mowers easy as hell). Lol I installed one on my TB 30 Troy-Bilt (same as the Craftsman R110) after my first messy oil change. I'll never deal with that mess again..........

I have the Murray version of this mower. Whenever I've had the oil changed the mower guy used a pump to pump out the oil from the dipstick area. I had no idea my mower had an oil plugbut it does. Which is better - using a pump or removing the oil plug to drain the oil?
@rjguess2 ай бұрын
Both ways are very efficient for removing the oil. The drain plug is just messier. Not everyone has a pump. I don’t. So I do mine this way to save me money. I’ll usually let it drain for about 15-20 minutes. Just to get as much old oil out as possible. Thanks for watching. I hope I helped answer your question.

WHY NOT: PUT A PIPE NIPPLE BACK IN THE ENGINE & MAYBE A FLEX FITTING + A PLUG FOR NEXT TIME! ( Miss signs you don't change your oil more often anytime you get the urge put the pan down take the plug out after you warm up the engine put the plug back in add oil start the engine check the oil level and wait 10 to 50 hours and do it again I'm definitely do it once before you put it away! One se ( RIP) potentially plug in mine too I don't know but the hardware store I could bring him the plug and I'll give you a pipe or flex hose so you can change your own easy!) That doesn't work for the new Toro never have to change the oil just turn the lawn mower upside down over your head and shake the oil out for that one you going to have to find a low point drain area drill it tap it and put the fixture in or get a oil evacuator I've got both and I sure would like to get all the oil out especially the crit on the very bottom the twinkles when he goes into the drain pan looks like the Milky Way galaxy from all of metal shavings still in the engine! Don't laugh before I started doing that the engine was built at 19 82 that still runs today! ⛽🪫🙏😊

Beware of overfilling! This mower needs only a qt. And no more. I learned this lesson after overfilling just a few ounces. It smoked when starting up and would die after bout 15 minutes of running.

do you still have the manual for your mower? the manual says it comes with a plastic oil drain sleeve that snaps onto the oil drain plug.

I have the Troy-bilt TB30 version of this mower. It's a 2017 model purchased in Canada at Canadian Tire. Mine came with a plastic oil drain trough. I'm not sure how it's supposed to work, but I've used it twice and I still got oil all over the frame, deck, tires, and my garage floor. The second time I used it, I was prepared and put plastic garbage bags all under the mower, lol.
@mrbubetube16 күн бұрын
@@PurpleSideBlack the manual says the sleeve and the plug are designed so that you must snap the plastic oil drain sleeve onto the drain plug first, then remove the drain plug. It also helps if you tip the opposite side of the mower up so that the oil will be released on a downhill. That should prevent the oil from running backwards and onto the frame. The manual provides a full set of instructions with illustrations on how to do this properly.

Per this mowers owner's manual, it takes 57 fluid ounces of oil with an oil filter. One quart is only 32oz. I know there's not 25 oz of oil in the oil filter.
@rjguess4 ай бұрын
The model I have does not have an oil filter. I checked the dip stick on my mower and it was full. That’s the purpose of having a dip stick. For those of us who lose the owners manual or can’t remember exactly how much oil it takes. I do appreciate your information. Thank you also for your watch time!
