Definitely worth having a go at doing yourself. I've had a Braun 4747 for several years now, and the batteries were starting to give up the ghost. Took it apart and found the batteries weren't even soldered in. I replaced with a couple of Sanyo Eneloop batteries I had. They are miles better than the original batteries, and are still going three weeks later without charging. Ten minute job and it didn't cost me anything.

+tectorama I did replaced mine with Sanyo Enelope too.. I used paper masking tape the wires instead of soldering, works for me.

I had no idea you could get them to work without soldering. That's good to know. Thank you!

Some batteries are soldered in, and some are not. It depends on the make and model. On the Braun 4747, they slot in. As the dedicated batteries are slightly longer, you need to pack one end to make up the difference.

You make this look so easy... but I think it was two hours for me. My batteries didn't have those little holes to attach the wires. I needed 3 hands to hold everything in place. Thanks for posting this, though... I have a similar Remington R 960 and nothing new even compares. I think it's 15 years old and still has the original blades. Will keep it going as long as I can.

I own a Remington shaver around 8 years old and noticed slower than normal charging. It eventually quit, I replaced it with a upgraded model that used the same rated charger. I made the mistake of not testing the old charger. However I needed to buy new foil and screen and adding a charger to the original shaver would of been equal cost. I keep the old shaver as a back up. I eventually found out no batteries were offered for my shaver.

Very nice video. It seems OK to use a higher mAh battery, including the newer NiMH batteries, just don;t mix types or mAh ratings. Higher mAh just takes longer to charge with the OEM charger.

Extremely useful video -- thank you! I've had a Remington shaver sitting around for years because it needs a battery. I'm going to break out my soldering iron and give it a go. Btw, Remington refers you to an outfit that you have to mail it to which charges the purchase cost of the shaver to replace the battery. I wonder how many people actually mail the shaver and pay that kind of price for a simple battery change? And they don't give you a corded option, which I would happily take if it were available.

Next week will be 8 years since you put in the batteries. Do you still have the shaver and are the batteries still holding a charge?

That's funny you asked, I just changed it the battery again this year. We'll see how long it lasts this time.

What replacement battery cell does the aqautouch need?

My darn beard trimmer AC adapter just died on me. So I changed it to work on two AA batteries instead. I took the battery section of an old Toshiba remote control device, and mechanically attached that to the trimmer. All I had to do now, was solder the two trimmer motor wires to the battery section. And so of course my 30 year old soldering iron immediately went up in smoke once turned on. So instead what I had to do was heat up the tip of a screwdriver by placing it on a red hot oven ring, and then use this as my 21st century soldering iron. The trimmer works, but looks hilarious.

I also had some batteries in a razor I was changing, they were also KR 600 AAL. I think they were 400 mah. I'm replacing those batteries with 1.2 volts 2650 milliamp batteries, do you think that will ruin the razor or supercharge it Those were some batteries I originally bought for some outdoor lights I had leftover
@ВладимирФофанов-ж8ж10 жыл бұрын
No supercharge or breaking your razor in any way, don't worry. It just will work 3-4 times longer with one charging then before :))

Hi, very helpful video. I was just wondering if it would be possible to replace those batts with same voltage li-ion batteries?
@AdventuresInDIY9 жыл бұрын
Markel Flores Everything I read said it was a different charging system and wasn't interchangeable.
@TheChipmunk20089 жыл бұрын
Markel Flores Don't try it, Chris is right, the charging system is VERY different for Li-Ion batteries, and they're prone to going up in flames if you charge them wrongly. It is sometimes possible to use NiMH instead of NiCd though, especially if the charging current is very low

I own 2 norelco rechargeable razors that do not work at all. I've charged them for several days. The charge light comes on and the charge indicator on one of them with numbers next to it lights up. Does that mean the battery is taking a charge or will those indicators turn on even if the battery is dead?
@AdventuresInDIY6 жыл бұрын
Sorry. I don't know the answer but changing the battery only takes about 30 minutes and less that $5. You could always try that first.

Not sure when, but this useful video has been replaced with a Remington ad-probably generates revenue for youtube, but completely worthless to viewers needing info.
