Thank you for your video, I am on a very low budget and my 95 Lumina has a lot of small problems, but I like that it is fast on the freeway and I don't have a car payment so I need help from your videos. Thank you again.

Thanks for sharing. It's the exact same layout and project I'm working on. I should've checked KZbin before I started though because now I'm really stuck. Lol I removed the air flow crap straight away because it obviously had to go. I got the first bolt out right away with a swivel socket on a 3" extension and 13mm socket. For the lower bolt in the back, I fumbled around with a regular wrench for a minute, then I thought "I wonder if I have a wrench without an offset on it.". .. Turns out i actually do, and I was able to get at the lower bolt fairly easily from the top. I'm a novice mechanic, and I was pretty proud with how quickly I seemed to be getting this thermostat issue fixed. However the only straight wrench in my limited arsenol happens to be a ratcheting one. Maybe more experienced mechanics or people with a little more common sense than I just displayed could see where this is going. As happy as I was to break the bolt loose I had hardly no room to ratchet. It was then that I discovered what I hadn't yet learned from this video. So, using the wrench I still had in my hand i went underneath/behind the exhaust pipe, but before I realized that it's actually a slot instead of a clearance hole, I backed the bolt all the way back into the shroud over the exhaust. So now, it, and the half retarded, ratcheting wrench (used by a half retarded operator) are pinned in there. I have the thermostat and housing out now but i can't get anything on the bolt to tighten it enough to get the wrench off!! I'm not seeking advice. I just thought I'd share this because it seems comical now that I stepped away from the headache for a min.. Lol Needless to say I'm about to blindly dive into removing the shield over the exhaust and hopefully I won't screw that up bad enough to wanna go watch a video of how I should've done it in the first place. 😆

Just take out the bypass & exhaust crossover..takes 10 minutes..sometimes you waste more time trying to find a easy way..yep there is a Bermuda triangle where bolts & tools disappear in between the trans & motor...its good to take out exhaust crossover & condition the bolts with anti seize once a year..

I’ve got mine out no problem. Spent 4 hours trying to get it back in. No luck so far

What are you having trouble with? Putting the thermostat in? Does it keep falling out before you put the pipe back in?
@JustinSmith-hr6qg6 жыл бұрын
stcharleshometheater well that’s one issue, however, I was able to get it to stay put a couple times but I can not get the lower bolt started.

I would try screwing it in without the pipe in just to make sure it threads in ok. Also make sure the threads on the bolt look OK.

stcharleshometheater I understand the reasoning and I will do what you’ve said, just doesn’t seem like it would be the issue as it’s the same bolt I just took out of it.

I’ve also read to remove the throttle body just nervous about doing that

Its seems like you have enough space to use a socket and an extension
