When installing the wick you have to look inside the inner tube for the channel slot the wick riser slides into or spend 20 minutes trying to figure out a simple part of the instructions he forgot to tell you , but now you know love this page byw

Very helpful. My Aladdin is several decades old, and it's been probably that long since the wick was changed. Things did not easily come apart. But I managed, even with a torn-off paper pull-tab. Thanks

this demo has been long overdue. Now I can insert the wick without dreading the work or ruining my wick. Thanks.

Thanks a lot Tony, I have done it. My problem was the wick was really jammed in and gunged up and wouldn't move. After I got the flame spreader out, I had to cut the charred wick out and then with pliers I pulled on the ratchet to release it. Probably the wrong fuel. Once the ratchet was out I could cut the charred parts off and then remove it. I had to clean the outer wick tube with wire wool as that was sticking as well. However your instructions helped enormously. Putting the flame spreader in first is crucially important - the wick won't go in unless you do. Thanks again. Job done!

Nice video. I seen it 2 hours to late. I had to take the wick out, so I could clean all the works. 2 hours after being done with my clean-up and reassemble I ran across this video. The wick raiser on the B model comes out at the bottom of the burner assemble. That means that you have to unclip the raiser from the wick first and then lower the raiser down until you get it out all the way from the bottom. Then you start removing the wick out from the top.

Yes...flame spikes a problem here too. A video on changing the wick in the kerosene heater would be very welcome.

please do a video on how to properly use the alladin wick cleaner, because no matter what I do with that wick cleaner it NEVER gets rid of flame spikes.

I’m having the same problem with spikes on a used 23 that was given to me as a gift. After burning dry the wick that came with it I just happened to notice that the wick was not of even height all the way around! My last ditch effort at saving it before ordering a new one is taking a razor blade, lowering the wick to the bottom of the spreader, so I have a base to work from, and GENTLY cutting off the high part of wick in hopes that it may even it out. Barring that I’ll be ordering another wick from Miles Stairs.

@@davevann8439 This problem I fixed by repairing the burner top mesh / outer wick tube. It wasn't engaging with 1 of the 3 metal locking notches.

Can you redo this with the camera zoomed in, please? Between being zoomed out and the low resolution (I'm assuming it wasn't out of focus) I couldn't really see what was going on. Thanks.

Just curious. How long is a new wick's life expectancy in number of hours used...on average? These wicks are NOT cheap. Cost me $30 with shipping for a new one. If they need to be replaced after 100 hours of use, Aladdin needs to come up with better idea or a longer lasting wick. I didn't even get 20 hours of use out of my first one before it crapped out, and by then, the wick was raised all the way up and only burned in certain sections of the ring. Either I got a bad wick....or these wicks are just bad....period.

I was wondering about burn hours per wick too! Aladdin?

Good morning Tony, I have an old Aladdin 23 lamp here. It's not in great condition; the finish is a bit tarnished and the parts are kind of locked in. I have managed to disassemble the unit to the point of trying to get the burner basket off. It won't budge. I don't want to damage it; would you please give me some tips on how to get it off so that I may replace the wick and mantle?

It's not easy to change when the lamps been sitting awhile and the wick won't go up or down. How about a video showing what to do then?

Boil the part for a time in a pot of water. It will loosen up.

The boiling water worked great to free up my Rayo lamp. I added a few drops of dish soap. The wicked raising rack works like new.

Hi, I’m looking for some information about model 7 wick change. It seems it’s the only model with small spikes on the wick slider. Any info would help thanks!

Good to see how to change wick. The wick in mine wouldnt go up or down. like to never got it out. Does the model 23 have to have the mantle to work right our can it be used with out one? thanks.
@FloryJohann7 жыл бұрын
Without the mantel you only see a blue flame unless you turn the knob or the wick way up.
@jaquepaulo5 жыл бұрын
Just purchased my first Aladdin lamp. Completely ruined the mantle and did some damage to the wick. Got a new mantle and got a new wick but the flame is not symmetrical. In some spots there is almost no flame and in others quite a large flame. Lamp runs but at low power and I get dark spots on the mantle if I turn it up much at all. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks

where would one purchase those wicks? I inherited an aladdin lamp but I don't know if all the pieces of the burner thing is there, the wick is stuck in the burner and I can't move it. I will now review this and hope I will be able to take it all apart, it's so old would it be ok to use wd40 to help loosen the parts? I won't do it until I hear from you. I know how to use a regular oil lamp but not these...

Just lit a brand new mantle. Had a small dent in the fabric right out of the box. Opened a huge hole in it. Sucks since they are so expensive now. I let it run a few minutes anyways on low still cracked my chimney. So at my loss and a gain in experience, don't run a mantle with a hole in it. It will get to hot and crack your chimney. Lol 😆 sheww now I know.
@garbleduser Жыл бұрын
Less of a issue if with a full 10 minute preheat with the wick extremely low. The mantle will not be glowing through this preheat time.

Hey! Tanks for this! I just recently found an Aladdin Model B (Rose Pink) in a thrift store, but it has the Model 23 burner in it. They are interchangeable and work in either lamp, but I didn't know how to get it apart! If anybody has a model 23 and wants to swap my model 23 burner with an extra Model B just so we both have original parts, send me a message! Mine's in perfect working order, and I'd be happy to trade! I even have an extra original wick in the box I would send along!

I have a lamp that while the wick turning wheel will freely turn it doesnt roll the wick up as it was designed. It holds a 1" wick, ( wont roll it up), but when i put a 3/4" wick in, it rolls it up just fine. Why? Also ive noticed that with the 3/4" & not the 1" wick, the lamp oil evaporates in the lantern, when not in use. Is this because the wick is to small ad lets air into the oil chamber? Help.

Mine is also different than what’s shown. My grabber goes in from the bottom and the nubbins/notches on each side of the wick click into the sides of the grabber. Before that the wick turning wheel turns but doesn’t bring the wick up or down.

WARNNING DO NOT BUY THESE LAMPS USED AND EXPECT TO GET PARTS FOR IT. THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE ANYMORE ANY WHERES. YOU CAN NOT BUY ANY PART OR NEW LAMP ANY WHERES. Looks like the factory went out of business. DO NOT BUY. YOUR BUYING A LAMP YOU CAN'T GET PARTS FOR WASTE OF MONEY. Just buy a new LED LANTERN.
