I have the exact opposite problem. I want the home screen to launch / be default, but it always tries to connect to some external source (and alerts me that no signal is detected 🤦‍♂️) even though I told it I have no external source plugged in.

Doesn’t work. Set Live TV as default, watched a Blu Ray and turned off TV. Turned it on later and it launched with the Blu Ray input selected. Just remembers last selected input. Really annoying.

If you have already turned on Home Auto Launch in Home Settings, but Home still doesn't start when you turn on the TV, then your TV may have a glitch that wasn't there initially, but is now. That was my situation. I tried changing the settings, unplugging the TV to reboot, and even a 2-minute hold on the power button under tv reboot, and nothing worked. The TV would always turn on and immediately look for the default HDMI. It would not turn on and go directly to Home Screen where you could then choose an app. Otherwise, I always had to press the Home button to get there. Here's the Fix: RESET TV. You will lose all of your data (installed apps, login account, etc.). Once you RESET, you'll need to setup the TV like you did on the first day. Could take you a few minutes. But once the TV is setup, it should go to Home Screen when you turn on the TV. This is useful for people like me who watch streaming apps available on the TV and have no need to attach 3rd party streaming devices to the HDMI ports. Here's how to RESET the TV: On the remote, press Settings > All Settings > General > System > Reset to Initial Settings > Reset All. After the reset is finished and you've setup the TV by following the on screen prompts, be sure to turn on Home Auto Launch in Home Settings. Here's how: On the remote, press Settings > All Settings > General > System > Additional Settings > Home Settings > Home Auto Launch. Make sure Home Auto Launch in On (green). Back out of Settings and turn off the TV. Now when you turn on TV, it should automatically go to the Home Screen.

Why have a home page that’s you can’t set as a home page? If I want to watch Hulu why do I have to turn it on, press home, and go to Hulu instead. Of just turn it on and go to Hulu? Doesn’t make much sense other than a terribly thought out feature hope you fix it.

I want to be able to switch inputs without going to home. Sometimes I’ll watch an episode on Hulu, and then switch to my switch input and play a game, and then I want to go back to my show. Right now from the switch I have to do home and start Hulu up all over again. Where can I select the input I was already on for tv so I can go back and forth. On my C2. If you have the remote with Disney+ button, pressing the button will turn the tv on and open Disney app. Don’t use the normal power button.

I don't see how this sets any default, it's just a roundabout way of setting the current input. No matter what you set here the TV always switches on to the last input it was on when you turn it off. Very frustrating!

@@anthonytowler7619 What LG TV are you using. ? If it is an OLED, there is a turn off auto launch home screen setting on all of them. The reason it always goes to the LG homepage when you turn on the TV is because that setting is turned on. Do a search for "Stop LG TV Home Menu Launching on Start Up" the first video in the list will show you how to do it.

This used to be fine on my QNED until an update a few weeks ago, now it doesn't go direct to HDMI1, just shows the LG channels and streaming apps, so I have to switch to HDMI1. What a pain.

One thing they fail to mention is yes that works but when you turn your ps5 on it will automatically reset HDMI1 as your default again…so as long as I never use my ps5 again this method works.

@@timothygolden6000 so the little hack that I figure it out was if you hold down the input button and go to home dashboard click on like live TV or LG channels and don’t turn on your PlayStation and when you shut off and turn on your TV, it should go to one of those instead of going to HDMI because the thing is the inputs in your home dashboard are the only things your TV will go to when you turn it on so just pick anything but your HDMI ones and you should be good

This option doesn't work on slightly older LG TV's where the home dashboard displays the inputs in the middle, and all you can do is rename them and attach Icon's to them. I mainly use my TV on my PC, and so every morning I switch on, and get greeted by the Live TV, which is not plugged in. I then have to change back to HDMI 1 where the PC is connected. Why a TV instead of a monitor you ask? Because monitors are more costly, and don't have enough inputs on the back.

Since last update, it goes back to home screen. It is impossible for my 94 year old mother to scroll through the menus to turn on her tv. Last update made her LG tv useless to her. May not be a big deal to some but impossible for the handicap. Please change back with next update.

This is obviously missing steps, I follow the steps and live TV comes up on the TV however, when switching off then on again the TV reverts back to the LG default screen. You would thing LG ensure the instructions were correct

I want to control my entire tv setup with my Nvidia shield which is much smaller than the bulky LG tv remote. I WISH PEOPLE WOULD GIVE THEIR MODEL NUMBER, AND PREFERABLY WEBOS VERSION AND UPDATE NUMBER. I have a 43UQ8000 running WebOS22 update 03.33.95. I spent an hour on chat trying all the things mentioned above, and then a system reset. Unfortunately the reset doesn't back out system updates, which might have worked. I have a brand new LG UHD 860R80. This method does NOT default it to an HDMI port. Whenever I turn the TV on I see HDMI4 listed on my home screen, but it does NOT default to HDMI4 (my firestick) when you turn on the TV. You still have to select it each time. This doesn't work since the latest webOS update. Now the TV channel last warch briefly appears before the TV forces the WebOS menu. This is frankly really irritating. Who thought it was a good idea to stop me watching the tv when i turn on the TV. If i wanted to mess around in the web I'd use a phone , tablet or computer, not a device without a usable keyboard.

This works for setting an HDMI input as default when you turn on the tv. It doesn't allow me to set Home page as default. The Home page being the one you get when you press the Home button on the remote. Does anyone know how to setup the TV to display the Home page when TV is turned on? Iv'e tried turning on "Home Auto Launch" in Home Settings. That doesn't work. The TV always starts by trying to open the HDMI that has the green check mark in Home Dashboard.

I can't belive. Stupid lg always when I press settings It shows me some input. I DON'T USE ANY INPUT JUST app for viewing channels. AND ALWAYS SHOW ME NOT SIGNAL> I AM SO DISAPOINTED

A useless TV. Will not buy another one. Why do I have to manually go into inputs and select KZbin every time I start the TV? Did anybody bother to ask the end user, or do they think customers won’t notice how bad the product is
