enjoyed the video,as my 20+ year old alarm decided to activate last week and wouldnt stop(mains pulled & battery removed) Im not keen to repeat being up a double ladder at 4.30am with a grinder cutting the rusted pins off to get at the wires, so Im adding the battery box back up to the strobe light 😀 I would however differ on the comfort lights to me they do add a bit of doubt that the thing is real not just a dummy-well explained and presented video

Thanks. I don't want to rain on your parade, but you can buy bell boxes with just "comfort lights" You can even get ones that have a small solar panel, to charge a tiny battery.

Hi Toni, I found you're video interesting, however I do have to take issue with you about the comfort lights "not doing anything", They do serve a function apart from giving a visual deterrent that the system is 'live', on most systems they serve as a diagnostic tool, if the left led is off it means that there is no 12v supply from the panel & if the right hand led is off that tells you that the tamper circuit is open, hope this helps.

I am happy you found the video interesting, however I must point out that in 99% of cases your statement that one LED means this and another LED means that is in error. I am going to make another video explaining why this is so, it should be available soon (ish)

Hi Mate. Not sure it you still check comments but I have an issue with an wired Gardtec alarm I have. It's old but has been working pretty flawlessly. However in the last few weeks the alarm keeps going off even when it's turned off. It keeps showing 'Bell Tamper Fault'. Do you know what this could be? I've changed batteries in the panel a few times but never in the bell box. Also, when there is a battery issue it usually says it's the battery. Any advice would be greatful. I don't want to have to replace it all as it's been solid. Hoping it's something small or maybe I just need a new bell box. Thanks in advance mate.

Have you looked inside your external siren?

@@tonipeters4543 Hi mate. No. I thought initially it would just stop lol. If hasn't. It's gone off 3 times tonight already. It's going to be a long night. I'll have to get up the ladder tomorrow and have a look. Is there anything specific I should look for inside the box? Could something be warn out of deteriorated? Appreciate you coming back to me.

@@tonipeters4543 So I climbed up today. Everything inside the box looked good. Wires clean and undamaged. Only thing was there was lots and lots of webs over the wires/circuit connectors etc I brushed them all off and it all looks clean now. Is it possible that webs could trigger the tamper alarm? Also, is it worth me changing out the battery and fitting a new one? Sorry for being a pain but any help is greatly appreciated.

@@lockdowng112 Chances are yes, the cobwebs may have caused it to trip randomly, and if the battery is over 7 years old I would recommend you to replace it.

@@cooperlee-clay9134 Hi mate.. Appreciate the response. I went up and gave it a good clean. Also replaced the battery. Was fine for a day and started triggering again. Ended up getting someone round who replaced and fitted a new bell box for a decent price. It's been fine ever since.
