How to change your release

Today, we are going to cover how to change your release in bowling and more importantly, when to change your release in bowling.
As a disclaimer, in the video I describe that making these changes with your hand affects your axis rotation - which is true, however, it also affects your axis tilt which is another subject to discuss in a future video.

Changing the two-handed because of a thumb issue has caused me to worry about my axis now that I'm realizing my access to maybe the reason why I'm having over under problems because I'm not consistent with it where it was easier to be consistent with my thumbnail ball. Thanks for this video

Thank you so much For your videos, it seems like a lot of work to help other bowlers. I have one question can you explain how Jesper and Belmonte throw because when I see slow motion release in 4K it looks like they have the wrist cupped and then uncupped but in a neutral position and yet they push the ball in a 45 degree motion.

Your welcome, I am glad my videos have helped you. It is a lot of work for sure! Imagine your opening a round doorknob with your hand at the release point. You want to copy that exact same motion at the release point with a bowling ball and that will impart the rotation. if you watch very closely at their release point, their hands are under the bowling ball and they rotate from underneath the ball.

Great video, as a 2H bowler myself, I've wondered about palm positions, I haven't seen people talk about it much, but I notice my inconsistencies when my hand placement isn't consistent each time I pick up the ball . I was wondering what your experience is woth palm positions?

Glad it was helpful! I primarily try to stick with the same hand position when I bowl unless the pattern dictates a different position.

Correction - it changes both. This is how I think about implementing the change because it's quite easy to understand. It's very hard, if not impossible to change just your axis tilt and not your rotation at the same time. If it was just changing my tilt, you would not see nearly as much of a change of direction of the ball as it goes down the lane.

I will do a better job in the future to clearly explain. These changes change both tilt and rotation on the ball as its impossible to change one without the other in my experience of measuring my own tilt and rotation. Changing your tilt more than a few degrees with just your hand position is very hard to achieve and is better achieved with a performance drilling on your finger/thumb pitches.
