What did you use to charge it up a regular car battery?
@thomastommy9864 Жыл бұрын
How do people usually deal with capacitor when you're doing routine battery maintenance, or perhaps you're replacing your aging 12v battery? Would people typically not have it disconnected long enough to drain it, so when you attach the battery again, you wouldn't see a massive spark? Or do people keep a charging board near the cap and always charge it when messing with the battery?
@HiFiVector Жыл бұрын
Disconnect and discharge the capacitor before you remove the cars battery.
@leonardkellum6984 Жыл бұрын
so when its been sitting without a car battery I need to install a flashlite bulb between the fuse parts going to the cap, which is easily accessible, until the bulb goes dim.
@choosyonee7 ай бұрын
What if I was just starting to charge the cap and had to disconnect and not finish charging it, can I just jump back in and recharge it? Or do I have to do something else? Or did I damage it?
@HiFiVector7 ай бұрын
You’re supposed to discharge it completely when it’s disconnected from power. Then start over with the charging process. The cap will only hold power for like a minute when disconnected but they need to be either discharged or connected to power. They can be damaged by not being one or the other.
@choosyonee7 ай бұрын
@@HiFiVector ah ok yea I did not discharge it or had it connected to power, had to cut the process shortly after connecting power to the resistor so I guess I will have to buy a new one

I bought this today but now i feel like i made a mistake because i only use my vehicle for recreational purposes on a weekend so I don’t think this will work for me
@HiFiVector2 жыл бұрын
As long as your battery doesn’t go dead and you drive your car every week or two it’ll be fine. The only problem using a capacitor is if you let your battery go completely dead.
@tonyswagz2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, I usually disconnect the negative terminal of the battery while the vehicle is not in use to prevent it from dying quickly over time…. But that wouldn’t be good for the capacitor too right?
@HiFiVector2 жыл бұрын
Correct that would not be good but you can also buy an expensive battery maintainer and put on your vehicle that will actually help your battery in the long run and prevent that from happening here is a link for a great one I use if you’re interested. amzn.to/3XBsCBy

So is it safe to not discharge the capacitor through out the day? Or do I have to discharge the capacitor everytime I go into a store? Please respond lol new to this
@HiFiVector Жыл бұрын
No, you don’t ever have to discharge the capacitor unless you remove it from the vehicle or remove power from it. For instance, if you’re replacing your car battery and you need to remove the car battery. Then you would want to discharge the resistor and remove it from power before you remove your car battery, so basically you only need to manually charge and discharge it when first applying power to it and then when removing Power from it

Q. 1: do capacitors come in higher farads and would using a higher farad cap be better for car audio? Q. 2: Can you use a 2nd battery WITH the capacitor in your audio setup?
@HiFiVector2 жыл бұрын
Yes caps come in a wide range of farads ratings. Yes you can use a CAP with single or multiple battery systems.
@SheikhN-bible-syndrome2 жыл бұрын
Super caps are 3000f at 2.7v so 6 would make a 500f bank but even at 500f that's not much power
