Wow, That small module supports so much power 🫡
@ErCanEverything Жыл бұрын
The module is a trigger that tells the charger how much voltage to supply to the output, in this case 20V, otherwise there are also 9V, 12V and 15V as long as the charger supports these parameters🙂🤝
@dschannel1171 Жыл бұрын
@@ErCanEverything Yeah, I was thinking about how this module could handle 10A without heatsink, how the cable didn't melt with this current, because 60W on 19,5 V is about 3A, but in 5V is 12A! And I don't think this cable can handle this current, but now I understand, the module signs the power bank to send 20V, the wiring inside the power bank must be really thick...
@DjaniAgain Жыл бұрын
Great hack! When your laptop power supply doesn't work. This way you can use a phone charger, right? Amazing how much current this tiny chip handles 😍
@ErCanEverything Жыл бұрын
I need to check that the input and output are not connected directly and that the chip only determines the voltage🤔
@dschannel1171 Жыл бұрын
As I saw, the chip only signs the power bank to send 20V instead 5v, it's not a buck converter. It only works with power usb chargers, the charger must support this technology as this power bank does, isn't any charger, only the ones with this technology.

Thank you for real solution. Why it is sooo hard for manufactures of powerbanks to add some key combination to manually switch voltage mode???
@vendettasnares4 күн бұрын
Most likely they don't want you to damage any device and the blame them 😀 I've recently bought a soldering iron that can be powered from usb-c and it had that interesting cable that's usb-c on one side and alligator clips on the other. I had some fun with power supply and plugged usb-c to my phone. Obviously it took 5V, but I was surprised it accepted 9V. I know it can, because when charging with PD 3.0 protocol it is able to take 9V/3.3A but still was surprised to see it accept that voltage without PD.
@tematoscybersage56263 күн бұрын
@vendettasnares make sense:) thx hmm, doesn't higher voltages then 5v requires specific feature for consuming device, to send request 9v? like a lot of nowadays powerbanks do that, it calls as i remember quick charge
@vendettasnares3 күн бұрын
@@tematoscybersage5626 I thought it does require some kind of protocol. It looks like Nothing phone 1 is perfectly fine with getting 9V. I can tell that there was no protocol / data communication for sure, since I only used these alligator clips - so two wires for power only. Please, don't blame me when you fry you phone though 😅
@tematoscybersage56262 күн бұрын
@@vendettasnares from my side everything fine, i know what am doing, mostly:) hmm, could you please explain what you did? From what i understand, you powered soldering iron from phone? so its normal that it gives 5v instead of 9v. I am sure phones doesn't have this protocols for giving energy, only on consumption. This switch of voltage level is included in powerbanks and i think in some outlet chargers.

I have hp laptop that charges by 19.5V at 2.3A 45W. I have anker 736 charger that supports 20V at 5A 100W or 15V at 3A 45W. i don't know if it is safe to use the 20V decoy. Or i look for 15V decy as anker supports 15V at 3A 45W. Thank you

how many volts must be at the output of Power Bank? Also 20?
@ErCanEverything Жыл бұрын
You need a Power Bank that supports QC4 20V output voltage and using this Decoy module you allow the charger to increase the voltage from 5 to 20V
@ErCanEverything Жыл бұрын
For example, this module supports 12V and can increase the voltage powered by 3.7V Battery to 12V but does not support 20V kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGmYgKefaZKnoKs

I guess you can just take a look at cable to asses what wire gauge you need. Then make sure the polarity is correct when connecting PD module with a cable.
