Thank you so much for your video I tried it on my Senville two air handler mini split. Aura model 18000btu. It worked like a charm but only after the third try. I must stress to everyone please bleed the lines. Make sure the air conditioner is running when you’re hitting this psi Mark. Again bleed the lines, bleed the lines on the gauges. If you ever have trouble DM me. I can explain to you in detail what I did. I don’t make KZbin videos much at all. My leaks were s result of loose connections. All my refrigerant leaked out so I charged it from empty. Lord bless.

Multizone senville minisplit. Had a leak and will be removing all the remaining (likely very little left in the system). Removing it by using an evacuation pump into a separate cylinder. This will remove 410A from the compressor as well all line sets. Note: This multizone system has a manifold with a set of “king valves” at the top of it. One king valve for the vapour line and one king valve for the liquid line. The vapour line king valve has a 5/16” port on it. These king valves are the separation from the compressor behind the manifold and the rest of the system. Lower on that manifold are the line sets and each line set zone has“service valves” that when opened, allow flow thru to each connected line set. So, the king valves AND the service valves are open during the evacuation step noted above. After that, pressure test with nitrogen and locate /repair any leaks. Vacuum test down to 200 microns and confirm it holds it there. At that point, the system is tight and ready for fresh unused 410A to be added. My system factory charge calls for just under 6 pounds, according to the label on the side of the unit. My question is…do I close the king valves and add into one of the line set’s suction port as it is weighed in…and will the line sets hold all the 6 pounds of 410A, then open the king valves which then the 410A will make it to the compressor and I then start the unit up to circulate all thru? The last step and if the king valves should be open or closed during all the steps is what I am unclear about. Very much appreciate if you can enlighten me on this. Thank you…

Great video 👍 My multizone minisplit lost most of its 410A. Repaired the leak and will fully evacuate what may be left in the entire system including the compressor. Pressure test with nitrogen/ then vacuum down to 200 microns and hold/ once that is done, I will add just under 6 pou ds of fresh 410A via one of the line sets. Question: Do the king valves (these are not the line set service valves but are at the top of the multiple zone manifold) need to be closed and then opened only after the line sets have taken the 6 pounds or are the to be open while adding? Not sure if the two line sets (less than 50’) can hold all the 410A. At what point is the system turned on? I dont think it should be running while initially no 410 is in the lines.

Purging........ On the yellow hose, 1-connect to tank, and gauges. Slowly open the valve on the REFRIGERANT tank as to slowly release some refrigerant 2-On the gauges, slowly unscrew yellow hose at manifold until you hear air out, should just take a second. Quickly tighten. On the blue (suction) hose, 1-Fully tighten hose on the HVAC unit, and on the gauges. 2-Slowly loosen connection on manifold, the remnants of air in the line will bleed out at the connection to the gauges, (you will hear the sound of air coming out) at the manifold connection, and you can quickly tighten immediately after. It is a split second thing!

The unit comes pre-charged for a 25 foot line set, but I need a 35 foot line set to reach my living room,so I purchased one.. I believe after watching your 2 videos I would do this.....1) Install the system with the 35 foot line set. 2) Vacuum out the line set down to -30psi , wait a while and check for pressure leaks. If there are no leaks, my next step 3) would be to release the R410A which came pre-charged in the unit into the system. 4) Then I would check the pressure in the line set with the vacuum gauge to see what the psi is and then add as much R410A..... which I would have to purchase separately, to get it to between 117psi and 120psi.. Im pretty sure there is no need to purge the system. Does this procedure sound correct....thanks PS the manual says to add 0.38 oz/ft. So that should be about 3.80 lbs.

Failed recharge. sigh. I recently installed a new Senville 18K btu unit. Did a 1.5 hr vacuum test, no problem. Finished setup and started the system running. (note: It's winter!) It started heating just fine. Then I got a call and had to leave for six hours. Came back - and it wasn't heating anymore. Turned it off, and checked the Freon pressure. it was 0. Apparently the system developed a nasty leak somewhere. Since I had shortened the lineset (I only need about 20'), I assumed my flaring job wasn't good enough. Due to shipping snafus, I had a spare lineset (25'), so I just replaced my shortened one with a factory built one (and looped it). Since I had to wait for the Freon to arrive, I did a VERY LONG (4 day) vacuum test. It held vacuum. It's 36 deg F outside. Since there was no freon and I didn't want to run the compressor when empty, I did a slow fill to 100psi. Then powered up the system, and was able to fill it to 115psi. Wouldn't go higher. (freon too cold??) Yes, it's in Cooling mode - as I do have an alternate heat source in the house. Let it run for 15 minutes - no cooling, blower running inside, the fan on the outside unit is NOT running, but I can hear the compressor running. Pressure hasn't changed. Tried flipping it to Heat mode, and waited 15 minutes. No heating inside, inside blower running, outside fan and compressor running. No heat. Pressure hasn't changed. Gave up and shut it all down. Any suggestions?

Did you open the valves from the compressor to the lines? Towards the beginning of the video, he said don't try and add refrigerant to these ports. Ask me why I know? Been there, done that. Once you have the lines all connected, take the caps off and open the valves on both the high and low, you should hear a hissing sound as the preloaded refrigerant goes from the compressor to the lines. Open the valves all the way until the stop and then see if you get the heating and cooling desired. This is somewhat off the top of my head recalling from a couple of years ago, but I think there was also set of a master valves on top of the individual ports on my unit as well, so you might want to check that as well.

Once the purge is complete, a scale is required to measured the additional amount to add. That would be the easiest way to do it without buying a vacuum pump and micron gauge. Last video I seen was 2oz for every foot but each brand is different and surprisingly quick to help if you ask them the required amount. Do more research.

Thank you for the refrigerant link. I will have all the supplies I need to get this done. QUESTION: When beginning to add the refrigerant, should both high and low pressure valves on the outside unit of the mini split be wide open? What about when doing a back pressure test with Nitrogen. Are they open or closed? I don't want to mess up the compressor or anything by accidentally shooting nitrogen in there if its not supposed to be. Thank you for all your help. question, when your releasing the freon in increments..the 2 valves on the condenser..should they be open or close?..if you can please clarify.i appreciated. am just confused, because when your doing a vacuum to your system to make sure there ar no leaks, your suppose to have the valves closed, and then after open the 2nd valve for 5 seconds and close it again, and then remove the vacuum, and then you open both valves again..so for charging the unit, do they have to be open or close...thanks

When we did this, there was no refrigerant on the system, and it was vacuumed. We did another video on the vacuum process here on our KZbin channel. Always best to use a scale as well. In this video, the tube of refrigerant was within an ounce of the total refrigerant the mini split label indicated for the system.

@SaveGreenHere2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. best way is to see on the label the pounds of refrigerant needed, and weigh the refrigerant cannister before starting to fill. For example, if the cannister weights 25 pounds, and you are a pound short, when the cannister drops to 24 pounds, you're good. The adding should be done incrementally, every 10-15 minutes. The reason I did not weigh on the video is because the unit was completely empty, as it leaked completely, and it needed 1.4 oz, and we purchased this 1.44 oz container..... ebay.us/HKUnC3 So that made everything easy. You still need to vacuum properly, and we show that here..... studio.kzbin.infob_aysEpNLes/edit But if you have a large refrigerant tank, you are better off getting a scale and weigh the refrigerant according to what the label indicates it needs. Thank you for for sharing . The best practice for mini split is to start from zero ... Pull the vacuum and add refrigerant by weight. Anyway, I also top up my 9000 BTU gree inverter.. During topping up, I keep monitoring psi on the gauge, current from the clamp meter , temperature on suction line , temperature from supply vs return air on evap unit. I turn my ac to turbo mode or max cool... run for a while ...and adding refrigerant... My sweet spot Gauge psi.. 125-130 Current getting close to RLA (it is ok for mini split to ramp up to RLA on turbo mode... We are not gonna keep using turbo mode all the time in real life, right?... Is that 120 psi sweet spot the same on all mini splits? Or does that change depending on the size of the unit?
@SaveGreenHere2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of the mini split. I was for that one on the video, but you should see the label, and see how many pounds it needs. Then, with a scale, weigh the full tank of refrigerant, (assuming your system is totally empty) and go from there. Example: You need 1.5 pounds. You buy a tank of 410a that weighs 35 pounds on the scale. You slowly add to the mini split system until the tank loses 1,5 pounds, and now weighs 33.5 pounds. Here is the scale for refrigerant..... amzn.to/3acJ0nQ

Hi, I installed a new 2 zone Lg Mini Split. Getting error code 35 for low pressure after running for a few minutes. I Hooked up the gauges and added only a little 410a. When the fan is running the pressure is at 120 and when the fan stops the pressure is at 68. I’m still getting the CH 35 error code for low pressure when running the unit. The pressure doesn’t seem to be changing. Any advice? Thank you
@SaveGreenHere4 жыл бұрын
CH35 means you are seeing the low pressure sensor error. This error can be caused by any of the following causes: Overload operation (outdoor fan constraint, screened, blocked) Refrigerant leakage (insufficient) Bad connection of the pressure sensor Bad compressor sensor Bad PCBA You should check for any leakage, or if there are any blockages on the unit. If you are still not able to fix it, we recommend a local contractor to have it diagnosed. lghvac.com/professional-locators/contractor-locator/.

Make sure the unit is running and then read the gauges. With the system off, it will be at a higher PSI.
@HapaHeritage5 ай бұрын
Yup, nobody says turn it on lol There’s another video out there saying shoot for 150psi. I plan to take mine to 120 and check temps then push it a lil higher to get it colder but I don’t want to break it, I just want it to work. The proper way to recharge a mini split is to recover the whole freon charge, to zero it out the refill it using a weight scale (the outdoor unit has a label listing the factory charge in grams) and using a different style freon-tank but that equipment alone cost a grand with the 5lb tank. This method is a patch job at best if the original issue was a leak; Pioneer mini split website sells a 410 tank with leak stop mixed in btw but it won’t fully recharge a 9k btu unit; it can only top it up. Good Luck👍 P.S. I think they have it ON in Cold mode.

Should the pressure be same in winter or still 117?
@SaveGreenHere Жыл бұрын
You have to run in cooling mode, which you may be off in the winter. Best thing to do is to weigh the refrigerant. The label will show how many pounds it takes. Put the refrigerant tank on the scale, and subtract how much needed. For example, on an empty system, with no refrigerant, place tank on scale. Let's say tank weighs 15 pounds, and system needs 3 pounds. Start adding refrigerant slowly, Open valves, close valves. Slowly adding. When tank shows weight on scale of 12 pounds, that means 3 pounds is in the system. What I did in the video is use a 2 pound tank, on a system completely empty, that needed 2 pounds, so no scale needed. Use a scale like this one..... amzn.to/3RAllzN

this is the second part of what you need to do: - this is what I do: - First, if you are low, that means you have a leak.. in my experience, it's that the fittings come loose after years of vibration... so before you do anything, turn the unit off - and re-tighten the fittings there are the two lines... use 2 wrenches... then I would use a vacuum pump on the system because if there is a leak, there will be some air in the system, and you don't want that. - once your gauge shows -20 for 30 mins (it means it's holding vacuum) then you know you have no leak, and can NOW recharge your system.... NOW you can turn the system on full cool and lowest temp it will go... fully empty it will take about 1/2 a container - like the one he shows... I didn't do the open close - I just opened it up a little bit and close it when you are at like 90 psi, and then do the open close :-) - BTW there is no High Side access on these which is not great - there really should be... but like the OP said, just take your time.
