ZF is the manufacturer in Germany for this automatic transmission. Inside the oil pan must be a orange plastic pipe with a screw in the outside end. just start the car, let it warm up for few minutes and open that screw with a Allen tool. if oil is spilling out you have excess, if no oil dripping you must add oil. In other words, the lenght of that pipe inside oil pan is the correct level of oil. All that time the engine must running. Hope i was helpfull. Regards!!!

ive stripped hundreds of manual & auto boxes 4 clean ally/// but watching the video helps recgognise fault finding with understanding how it works as its not a 5 min job ;)

this is a ZF 01M automatic. at 18:01 you push a ball witch have a spring underneath. at my atf this spring was broken and i have replace it. i have a problem with harsh switching from 2 to 3-th gear and a funny noise between 1 and 2th gear. right now my atf is all mounted and new oil inside. after a test drive i'll come back with impressions. thank you so much for posting this video... p.s. sorry for my english... its not my native language!

How do you decide how far in to screw down the springs/valves on the adjustable ones? I have spent 4 months rebuilding my daughter-in-laws VW 01M Auto transmission. After all that it has No forward drive! AHHHHHH! Reverse works fine. ATF pressure from port shows what I think is close to correct pressures, P=46psi cold, similar warm. Shifting to R flashed to 150/160 then settled at 65psi. N= 65psi D=53ps1, up to 120 at 3000rmp, #= 53psi, 2= 53psi, 2=53psi There is a slight tic of the pressure needle when shifted from 2-1 but nothing at all into Drive, 3 or 2. Couple of months ago I bought a ross-tech VCDS 3 Vin, and updated a couple of days ago, (with some foul language for a while) .I did a scan and it showed no trans codes, perhaps it just needs more running? I had no idea how much to screw in the Valve body springs on any that were adjustable, so that's why I tested the ATF line pressure. Thanks for the Video!

Thank you for your post Its been a while now and from what i remember there is instruction about that screw I am not sure at this point if i remember. Did you touch that screw?

@@prijesi Thank you for replying. I just screwed it in about how it looked in the picture I took during disassembly. The pressures seem about right , some people tell me that I likely have no pressure to the forward gears, with enough to the rear, or that the "piston" which "tightens" the forward gears is shot. I just wonder if I had to much end play on something and the piston cannot tighten up, ( the piston worked on disassembly)

@@PeteDunn154 there is a computer for the transmission in the back sit Have you tried to remove the connection and plug back in? Check the connector how looks Is there voltage going in to each solenoids ?

P.S. Recomended oil for that transmission is ESSO ATF LT 71141. is the original oil you have from manufacturer.
I saw your video on HOW TO REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. Can you tell me where does the hook connects to? I am trying to put it all back but I can't remember where or how it came off. Can you please help me?

so, test drive complete. runs a little bit better... but 3th gear switch still bumpy especially after 20 km of running when oil gets hot. my car have 260000 km on board...
