How to check camshaft bearings status car engine

Does the auxiliary bearing cap of the camshaft must be hold tight the camshaft? In my case there is a small gap between it and the camshaft. Without gear, I can slightly turn the camsahft left and right 2-3 degree by hand.

If the camshaft bearing caps are scored is the engine stuffed, or can I replace the caps?. Where if so can I get the caps from/.

they dont have Plastiguage in your country? You can fix the oil clearance with 1000grit sand paper, alluminum polish compound, and a very flat peice of metal or glass to shave the caps. Be patient when doing it.
