Oh my goodness, I can't thank you enough. I knew it was time to change the bag (because of an odor resembling parmesan cheese), but we use this particular vacuum so seldom that I couldn't recall the process. Much gratitude coming your way from Corvallis, Oregon.

Aww - SO glad this was helpful! BTW - you are not alone on the "cheese-smell" problem....I hear that now and then from customers ;-) Changing the bag frequently enough really helps.... much of the particles we pick up are protein-based, which guess what....rot like cheese!

I love my *Miele Complete C-3 Brilliant* that I bought in Jan 2021. Finally today, I changed my bag for 1st time. I actually should have done it after my first usage! Because I already had to clean out the lighted sweeper head the first week! I think most of the stuck on mess, was from under my King Size bed, that I have never vacuumed under in past 18 years (when I moved into my house). because I had no way of getting under it. Now I vacuum under it every time I vacuum my bedroom. Changing the bag, scared me, because I saw to many reviews where people did it wrong, and their Miele had to be serviced. After watching you do it, it was a Breeze! Best demo, and I thank you! One more thing, I wanted to say, the reason I bought the Miele C-3, is because after I vacuum, with Kirby, I like to steam clean my carpets, being owner of 2 dogs. The Hoover Steam Cleaner picked up so much more debris after using my wonderful Kirby. Latest newest Kirby is only 6 mos. old. I knew I need something better. After lots of searching, I decided on top of line Miele C-3. Steam cleaned returned water is now nothing but dirty water. No hair or dust! Amazing Miele! Brigitte age 65, in Tulsa Oklahoma

That is excellent news!! Glad this helped you change your Miele bag with confidence! And indeed, extractors are only meant to pick up the dirty water...too much fibrous debris left behind on the rug will kill its performance and clog their thin suction channels. So vacuuming REALLY WELL before you start the extractor (going nice and slowly with the best vacuum possible) is the key to Steam-Vac SUCK-cess ;-) Your Miele is definitely the first line of defense for a clean home! Thanks for watching and for your comments :-)

Oh that's wonderful Brigitte! So glad the video was helpful, and that you're loving your C3 (I know I love mine!!) It's definitly an incredibly easy to use and effective machine....especially for fine dust like that. And you're right - I've seen it too many times in our vac shop - where people install the bag incorrectly and have the dreaded "bag accident." It's a minor mistake with pretty nasty consequences - so I definitely understand your upfront concern! But I'm glad you now know how easy it actually is, have mastered it, and are having such great cleaning results! Thanks for watching and writing :-)

Using it in a one bedroom. Before vacuuming I use the swiffer dry sweeps on tile and wood floor. First bag lasted 11 months. If you have a mansion and few dogs, yes, it might last a month. But for the aveeage person it will last much longer than a month.
@QueenVac
@QueenVac 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you are supplementing your cleaning with other vacuums, sweepers or swiffering, your Miele bag will take longer to fill up. However I have many customers with dogs, high traffic and lots of carpeting that can fill a bag in 2-3 weeks! Everyone's home is different, but the "average" is very much 1 month. Also, some folks need to change out a bag that is not 100% full a little sooner due to hygiene reasons (especially after the 2 month mark.) Most dirt is biological with lots of protein-based particulate that decays and causes odors. Tossing the bag removes the source of the filth and gives you a clean start! :-)

@@QueenVac One way you can remedy a smelly bag if you're not using a HEPA Filter with activated charcoal, or the Active AirClean Filter, is to use activated granulated carbon from your local pet shop. This is the EXACT same stuff that Miele used to use in the genuine blue HEPA Filter's activated charcoal layer, is currently used in the charcoal layer in the Active AirClean Filter, and what is used in the charcoal layer on generic HEPA Filters. Just place 2 tablespoons on a flat surface, turn the vacuum on, and suck it up into the bag, it will go right to the odor source in the bag & kill it. Just make sure you do this ONLY WHEN THE BAG STARTS TO SMELL! Otherwise, if you just put it into a new bag, it won't work.

@@robwalton2007 Great tip - thanks! We also like to use MOSO (or similar) mini charcoal sachets. They're very small and lay right inside the bag compartment, under the bag. It helps neutralize malodors right at the source, independent of the fill of the bag, and without compromising final filtration. (I do have a separate video about this on the channel as well.)
@robwalton2007
@robwalton2007 Жыл бұрын
@@QueenVac Yes, I seen your video on the MOSO charcoal sachets. I don't think those are available in Canada though, at least not on the 3 major vac shop supply sites most vac shops get their parts from. What you CAN do though if you wanted to do that & can't get them locally is to get the drawstring mesh baggies used with the charcoal to make fish tank filters. Doing that is essentially making a homemade MOSO sachet - with the bonus being it would be much cheaper to buy a big bag of activated charcoal & the baggies than to buy the MOSO sachets. I also use those drawstring baggies when using Fresh Wave pearls....just put them in the baggie & behind the bag in the bag chamber. The beads last much longer that way.

If you vacuum up lots of fine, sandy, dusty dirt that clogs the bag pores & makes the vacuum lose suction quicker than normal, one tip I have found to extend the life of the bag is to take the bag out, take it outside, give it a good vigorous shake, & reinstall the bag. Doing that will knock the dust off the walls of the bag blocking the bag's pores, & should restore most of the suction back to the vacuum, so you can clean knowing the vacuum isn't leaving any dirt behind.
@BrigitteCoffman
@BrigitteCoffman 3 жыл бұрын
Rob, I will have to try that, now that I know how to remove it. Thank you for the tip!

@@BrigitteCoffman You're very welcome Brigitte. I only use the generic Miele GN bags & buy from Aliexpress, Amazon or Ebay, & although they do NOT leak dust as your dealer would have you think, they have only 5 layers of HEPA Cloth material instead of 9 like the genuine bags do. So this is a really helpful tip for those that use generic bags. Oh and btw, you can also do this for vacuums that use paper bags - same principle applies. Have a old Electrolux that uses the Style C bags & shaking the bag to renew suction works just as well with those bags too.

Thanks for your comments @rob w . But just be very careful Bridgette...as in our experience (20+ years servicing Miele) there IS a dramatic difference between genuine and fake bags. If you get one of each bag in your hands, tried the install and removal yourself, and also saw the condition of the vacuum with consistent use of either, you'd see the major differences first hand. We have seen countless "bag accidents" from fake bags busting at the seams, and/or not fitting properly into the bag dock, causing disastrous spillage. Even "minor leakage" over time has a detrimental effect. If the spillage caused damage to your electronics, the warranty becomes void for use of counterfeit materials that caused failure. Also, less filter plys in the bag also means less filtration...some who suffer with respiratory disease cannot suffer that consequence. This is not to be a Debbie Downer or to employ scare tactics....we've just seen it all!! We've witness many way to cut-corners in our history, but 95% of the time folks are very upset with the consequences. Just food for thought :-)
@robwalton2007
@robwalton2007 2 жыл бұрын
@@QueenVac Well, first of all, yes, there is a difference in the quality of the generic & genuine bags - the generic bags are 5 ply HEPA Cloth material, vs 9 ply for the genuine Miele AirClean bags. However, the quality of the generic bags is about the same as for generic HEPA Cloth bags for any other brand, like Kenmore for instance. I personally have serviced a few Miele vacuums, and have also flipped & sold a few vacuums on the side, in addition to owning a few myself. I personally have not ever seen ANY HEPA Cloth bag, whether generic or genuine, from any brand, tear at the sides though. Nor have I ever seen dust leakage in the bag chamber on any of my Miele's using the generic bags. I have only seen this in online photos people post online showing their "vacuum disasters". What I have seen, from machines I have serviced occasionally for customers who have dirty bag chambers, is where they forget to "click" the bag back into place as they check the bag & then close the bag door & use the vacuum again. And I have seen that with people using genuine and generic bags. I always warn people before they leave with the vacuum to: 1. Re-click the bag collar into place in the holder if they check the bag, & 2. If you choose to use generic bags, to buy ONLY generic bags where the collar is EXACTLY IDENTICAL to the AirClean style collar or the previous IntensiveClean style collar for best results. As for a generic bag leaking dust to the point it would be unsuitable for anyone with respiratory or allergy issues, I would say that anyone who has such issues should not be using either genuine or generic bags alone with just the Super Air Clean exhaust filter, they should also be putting in a HEPA Filter, either genuine or perhaps generic if they want the HEPA with a activated charcoal layer & they don't want to compromise filtration by using the genuine Active AirClean Filter. I have used the generic HEPA Filters with the activated charcoal for many years, & sure you get a little less paper, but they are also 1/4 the price of the genuine. They solve the allergy issues I have, & as long as you date & change them every year or two (depending on how much you use your Miele), you won't have issues using generic HEPA Filters & they seem to filter just as nicely as the genuine. And for the durability of the electronics & them failing using the generic bags - well this is one of many reasons I tell people to buy a nice older refurbished Miele made prior to 2004 with the double stage motor, NOT the current Vortex motor. Seems to me the electronics are just a bit more durable, & they can be bypassed as well if need be on the models with the double stage motor....something not possible on current machines with the Vortex motor. There are other new canisters I feel that, when taking into consideration the manufacturer's MSRP price when bought new, are more durable than the Miele canisters. For new machines, I suggest people look at the Titan T9000 series, Airstream AS300, Airway Altera & JohnnyVac Xclusiv canisters. All these machines are built well around the $500 dollar mark, will last 10 to 15 years, and don't have the issue with complicated motors & electronics that are easily damaged, & you can bypass the circuit boards quite easily if needed. I guess we will have to respectfully "agree to disagree". Good luck 🙂

There is an bag indicator on the top. How do you check that? With suction on?
@QueenVac
@QueenVac 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it must be on/running. The indicator is actually a strain gauge and/or air-flow indicator. The tab will pull over and fill the display with its orange color gradually, to show you that the machine's air flow is restricted. The more it can't breathe, the more orange you'll see. It will start showing when the bag is getting full, if the filter is too dirty, or even moreso if the hose is clogged!

The dust bag that came with my new miele was a gn hyclean. The miele website does not offer the hyclean only the airclean. I would prefer the hyclean since it is of a cloth material and would appear to provide better filtration than the paper model in your video. Any idea where I can get the Hyclean bags?
@QueenVac
@QueenVac 2 жыл бұрын
The currently available (and the bags used in this video) are NOT paper, they are indeed the cloth-like HEPA material, as usual. Miele does not make paper bags at all. The HyClean variant name was replaced by AirClean. Same product, fit and quality. The only noticeable difference on very old Hyclean bags was the "grid"/netting material visible on the outside. They do not use that reinforcement anymore, as it's not truly necessary. If you're hooked on the old ones, you would simply have to find someone with a stash of very old stock online. Otherwise, get the genuine new bags online from any reputable seller, and use them with full confidence! Thanks for watching and your comments :-)

Is that piece of black foam that sits on top of the HEPA necessary. Not sure what machine you have because the inside top looks different. I don't know. Maybe it's just the angle.
@QueenVac
@QueenVac 4 жыл бұрын
This is a new Complete C3 Cat & Dog. There is black foam insert inside the lids of all Miele canisters where the air finally comes through. It is simply a muffler/diffuser (not an item that needs to be changed.) But if it were lost/damaged it would not be harmful. The HEPA (or in this case, Charcoal) exhaust cartridge is a single, contained assembly that is what gets removed and replaced annually. Thanks for watching and I hope that was helpful :-)

@QueenVac 2 жыл бұрын
Oh goodness! I'm glad this helped you catch that problem! Make sure the vacuum is remediated well (that as much debris is removed from inside the motor compartment and such, not just the bag area.) The HEPA filter, if used, will likely need to be removed and changed as well. You may need to take it to a Miele dealer to be cracked open to make sure the motor and electronics are not impacted with dirt! Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck :-)

@QueenVac
@QueenVac 4 жыл бұрын
Awesome machine! But oh no! Genuine Miele bags are almost impossible to rupture. But as nice/tightly as the bags fit in the dock - it *is* possible to load the bag slighty wrong (not all the way in or something) and for some dirt to fly out where it doesn't belong...Yucky! (Otherwise that area should always be super clean and dust-free.) So if a "bag-accident" ever happens, please make sure all that debris is cleaned out of the bag compartment and change the pre-motor filter and bag. We performs those "remediation" services ever now and then. You don't want that debris getting into the motor compartment and causing damage!

I got a used Miele S2181 recently. It does not have the dust bag holder. I ordered this bracket but it did not come with a spring. I read that some do need a torsion spring. Does my model S2181 need this spring for the dust bag holder?
@QueenVac
@QueenVac Жыл бұрын
My goodness - so sorry I missed this and for the late reply!! But NO, your series does not require a torsion spring. You should be all set once you pop the bracket in place :-) Also - please just make sure that the vacuum is good and clean inside. Sometimes, folks throw out that bracket and run the vacuum without the bag in place.... it can cause an utter disaster inside, especially in the motor and electronics area. So if the vac's belly was dirty, it's going to be all inside as well! This may hinder performance and shorten its lifespan. Take it to get remediated by your local Miele service provider. (Still way cheaper than buying new!!) PS - Thanks for watching and writing! Oh, and if you haven't already, please consider SUBSCRIBING... it would help us so much! :-)

What happens when the little rubber ring keeps breaking off.
@QueenVac
@QueenVac Жыл бұрын
Hmm...in all my years, I've never seen the rubber gasket come off before... As long as you are not seeing dust "spillage" happen inside the belly of the vacuum, this should not cause a problem. But make sure you're using GENUINE Miele bags - as I have seen poor fit with some aftermarket/fake bags (and/or too-stiff or too-flimsy of a gasket.) And perhaps, if you CHECK your bag multiple times before disposing, I suppose it's possible for the gasket to get tired and rip away. On average - the bag door is only opened a few times before the bags gets disposed. Hopefully this helps :-)
