Nice video - I use coffee filters marked with the hive code/date in a funnel. I dry and fold them to keep them for review under a microscope if warranted.

So you check for mites in the Spring and Fall or just the Fall?

Check in spring then again in summer and compare if it is the same, better or worse. So he had two in Spring, if he had 2 in late summer then the hive is maintaining it well. If he has 3+ then the mites are increasing in numbers and should be treated. In Texas I find that I need to treat in August.
