He didn't tell any single point about tires safety that is the key for buying any tire. I.e. load rating , speed rating, tyre construction, traction & temperature rating, plies patterns etc. Though checking manufacturing date is good but safety features are most important. Tires seller usually sell tires on the basis of manufacturing date but research say tires shelf life is over 5 years if kept under prescribed conditions. I observed many times, while selling tires they do not talk about technical information.

He didnt mention abt types of tyres example : All season tyre,offroad tyre ,onroad tyre and even pattern of tyres play an important role .Tyres have different patterns because some tyres are made only for better grip on roads and some are made for offroad rides.Even snow tyres have different patterns.
