I wish was a good mechanic like you... I did save money doing a tune up using your video... a little elbow grease, and got the job done. All your videos are great and touching a lot of us Spyder owners. I'm surprised that there is as much accolades from all your fans... keep up with the good work... God Bless You... if there were more people like you, it would be a better world!

And that service would have cost you around $1200 (of course they do a few more checks but not enough to justify the cost). Great video! Surely it's not something I can do but that's ok, we just traded in our 2011 RT for a 2014 with the 1330 triple. No more major maintenance! Thank you for showing people how it's done!!

Having done the same thing, I think the video would be improved by advice on tools. For example, the 6 bolts that hold the bottom of the air cleaner box can be real hard to get a tool onto. Best solution for me was a sort 1/4 extension with the right hex key. The extension had a hex on the top. A ratcheting ring spanner fitting in the space up to the frame; a 1/4 drive ratchet would not. I agree that rear bolt on the rear cylinder is a real ba****d and it BRP ought to have put a "dent" in the tank to allow access. I mean, moving those 4 bolts give you about 4 mm clearance at best.

That is a big job to check a shim and bucket if the bike is not making noise then dont worry about it you just wanted your time for nothing hoping the gasket are ok
@spyderstuff83984 жыл бұрын
john Kosheluk - interesting theory. If they don’t make noise the gaps could be closed. Noise is good as at least you know there is a gap. No gap = burned valves and requires a head job = big cost. But what do I know?

Hi mate! Great video. I'm rebuilding the headers on my 2011 RS-S and the images gave me a lot of information. Do you have the service manual? Thank you!

What a pain in the butt these are to work on... Kind of puts me off owning one, is this a regular job that needs doing? How any miles between testing valve clearance?

That's a lot of work just to check the valve gap, 4 hours X $90 = $360 . CanAm Spyders are not cheap to drive and own-- for sure. The consolation is, they are a fantastic machine to ride.
@spyderstuff83987 жыл бұрын
rg amore - yep. You are absolutely correct. A real bugger. Even harder on an RT !

I have a 2015 Rt-s Se6, they say no valve adj. needed.
@spyderstuff83987 жыл бұрын
rg amore -- correct. The triples all have hydraulic valve adjustment which means the valve clearances are automatically adjusted. Which is what most cars have.

Is it just me or does everyone end up with a couple spare nylock body panel screws, or a couple extra push pins when they service their Spyder?
@spyderstuff83988 жыл бұрын
Scott9084 - ha! You aren't the only one. One spyder owning friend always ended up with two or three spares each time he pulled panels off his RT. became s standing joke. There are so many of these little critters, I started putting them in groups around the shed so I knew how many needed to go back in which spot.

What the manufacturer needs to do it make these engines with hydraulic lifters. It would make life more simple.
@spyderstuff83987 жыл бұрын
Robert Bowman - yep. That's exactly what they have done. Only selling RT and F3 now, which all gave the 1330cc hydraulic value lifter engine.
