This method absolutely does work, I did the first act then just finished him off the the monkey & freeze spell. Much easier for people who don't want to spend an entire day 20+ attempts when they could be progressing forward in the game instead. Also he only drops materials so its much better to just get him over with ASAP.

Yeah, no, it doesn't seem this works at all anymore. Like one commented, he just does fly's over the stone now and nails you for a bunch of health. I've tried it several times and each time the guy either won't go to the side you want, He'll fly over the wall or he'll just do one of his other moves. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'll try the "cheese" again and see what happens.
