I personally love the Dunlop TIII Riffle .88 picks for playing rhytms and Jazz III 1.14 picks for playing leads. I just scratch up the surface with a stanley knife or nail file to create texture for extra grip.

I’ve spent thousands over the years on finding the perfect pick . I’ve come to the conclusion that some picks work better than others for myself but there isn’t one thats absolutely perfect. Same applies to strings as well 🤨

I've used the kirk hammett signature jazz 3s for a while as the signature on one face seems to have the right level of grip for me.

Still a complete beginner (been playing for less than a month), but the ones I picked in the store were the Tortex Sharp from Dunlop. I really like their texture and the sharp tip has grown on me.

We use the same picks! Except I use the Dan's guitar store pink ones lol

Great overview Lukas! I'm still not 100% settled on one. Don't know if I ever will LOL. The pick that I quite like at the moment is the Jone Petrucci flow pick (the red one, not the black one). Compared to the black Petrucci one it has a much better grip (oddly because the surface seems very smooth). The only thing I am not sure about with this pick is the tendency to "chirp" at the pick attack. I like the Attack Pic as well.

I just started making my own custom picks with EggysPlectrums in the UK 🇬🇧 instead of constantly trying to find something to fit my needs 🥳

My pick journey started with the dava jazz picks then I found the Ernie Ball prodigy picks and fell in live with the sharp pick bevel. Eventually I discovered Bluechip picks and added a similar bevel to one side like the prodigy picks. I'm still hunting for something better but my bluechip is going to be really hard to beat.

The Jeff Loomis Dunlop is the perfect pick.

My pick evolution stayed within the Dunlop brand (not a compensated endorsement), progressing from the Purple Tortex 1.14mm, the Jazz III XL, and finally the Jeff Loomis signature, which is large, textured, stiff, and pointy. The Loomis pick was notably difficult to acclimatize to, but the large geometry, textured grip, and pointy tip resulted in providing a distinct benefit. I would recommend all three of these Dunlop picks, however, it should be noted that beginners typically have difficulty with stiff picks, and usually do better (less pick dropping) with a thinner pick. As pick strength is gained, it is generally recommended to move up towards stiffer picks, since pro’s regularly use stiff picks. Cheers~

Still wondering if there's an actual purpose to the hair elastic around the picking hand fingers?
