Shampoo is a big part of professional grooming, but there are so many products (and good ones!) that it can be overwhelming to choose the right product for your needs. Let's talk about some of the basic science associated with shampoo so that we know how it works, go through some of the basic categories of shampoo that you would see in a professional grooming environment, and then we'll look at some factors that come into play when determining what shampoo and conditioner would work best for you. Hi Gina, I love your channel!! I am curious about the scent lasting. My question is about maximizing the perfume scents with clients who want lovely smelling doggies. Does a conditioner with a different scent work against the shampoo scent?

Great question!!! I typically use a very mild scented shampoo and finish with my favorite berry scented conditioner, which pleases most of my clientele (amzn.to/3ObCizi, amzn.to/40SPwbN). But there are always those that want to kick up the fragrance, and for that my best advice is to use a shampoo/conditioner from the same line. I've used the Espree Rainforest products as my "Fragrance" option for many years, and the scent is very pleasant: clean, a bit fruity, but very noticeable. (amzn.to/3Az1Vaj, amzn.to/3YOtrIR).And if you particularly like a very pleasant Baby Powder scent, the Zymox leave-in conditioner is an amazing way to get the pets smelling great, and by leaving it in, you're also giving their skin amazing benefits (amzn.to/4eG37GU).
