hahah I did that in the beginning I was intersted in jumping so I wanted a horse who was fast and liked jumping it worked out really well 😺 but as I got older I didn't have money so I started borrowing another horse and that horse had me challenged but in the end I still learned a lot 😸 then my horse now I bought simply because he was a challenge 😸 he would be scared of contact in the mouth and would not go in the direction I told him to if I used the reins 😅😸 the issue got solved by lounge work and focusing on controlling the direction of the body first 😻 but you could say I wanted a challenge so I got what I wanted 😹😹😻 couldn't have it any better 😹😻

Being a non equestrian dad to a 10 yr old girl. what questions can i ask her to know if the horse is good match for her? she has her coach who tries to match her up, but i prefer to get some idea myself if possible.

Hi, great work trying to educate yourself! A good start is to understand her goals and what is important for her right now in her riding then to make a list of attributes that her current horse has that meets her goals or will help her achieve her goals and then make a list of attributes that is not helpful to meeting her goals. This is a good start to evaluating! Let us know how you go!
