Thank you for this video! It was extremely detailed and helpful and helped me to understand make up brushes in a way that was broken down and easily understood for a beginner. I've been using make up for years (I'm 35), but I still consider myself a beginner because it really is a craft and much more to learn than one would think. My boyfriend just doesn't understand how complex it can really be. He thinks I just smother products on the face and that's it. He's like, "why do you need another brush/all of these brushes? Can't you just get one and be done?" Lol. I'm confused the most on foundation brushes because these days it seems like everyone uses a sponge and kind of forgets about the brush. I have very dry skin and I never got good application from a sponge. Maybe I'm using it incorrectly or don't have the best foundations(all drugstore) that work with my skin because it never looks flawless. This video is 7yrs old and still helpful, but does anyone know of there's an updated version to this video?

this video taught me some things i hadn't known, thank you for posting it. one suggestion i have to make is to please include closed captioning with your videos, or at the very least, please make sure the volume of the background music is quieter than the presenter. i found it very difficult to tune out the music and actually hear what was said. regardless, closed captions for your videos would be a huge help for Deaf and HoH makeup lovers.
@palestar8282 жыл бұрын
KZbin has closed captioning available now lol

I agree with Denice - it would be great to get a list of brushes shown or even a photo of all the different foundation or blush brush styles. Also, I've learned to love a product called Cinema Secrets that is great for cleaning you most frequently used brushes without water. I like it because where I put on makeup is a distance from the bathroom and the product comes with a little cleaning tin - so the foundation brush gets the cleaning attention it deserves.

Same here. You wrote this comment five years ago. Brushes are EVEN MORE expensive now. I've been buying cheap ones. I wonder if the expensive ones are really better and worth the money? I just cannot afford ONE brush that's 30+ bucks! That's so much money to me for one product.

this is an awesome video. how do you sanitize your brushes tho? do you just dip it in alcohol?
@nooperspism9 жыл бұрын
Washing your brushes with soap is how you can sanitize them. This works for both synthetic and natural bristles. Alcohol is okay to use for sanitizing synthetic bristles only and the alcohol should be spritzed on a paper towel like she demonstrated. Dipping the brush in alcohol would pull alcohol into the ferrule, loosening the glue, which could lead to bristle shedding from the brush. Alcohol is not good for natural bristles because it could dry out the bristles and make them brittle and break. Think of natural bristles like your hair. You wouldn't put alcohol on your hair, but you'd wash it with maybe a conditioning soap.

This video is good, but doesn't go far enough. I want to know the difference between a 10$ brush a $25 _30 brush and a 70 and up dollar brush. I need to know which to choose. I dont mind spending money on a quality product its an investment. But I dont want to spend $100 on a Tom Ford brush if a $30 brush is all I need l.

+Góc Nhỏ If you are refering to the pink liquid one.. pour it into a small container.. dip your brush on into the liquid do not let the ferrule touch the liquid. dip it for a few seconds and get a tissue towel to wipe it off. Repeat till the brush is clean.i will consider this method as ( Spot Cleaning ) its good when you want to give your brushes have a quick wash.. maybe once a week if you are using personal brushes.. and you can deep clean once every 3 week or a month. it all depends on yourself .. if you want your brushes to be fully deep cleaning.. I will still recommend you to go for soap and water just like this video. I am a certifed makeup artist.. Hope this is helpfu for youl..

what? Clean your brushes once a month...? I feel like I see germs laying eggs living happily in the bristles and...your skin. But idk I might be overdoing it by washing/deep cleaning my brushes every two times of use with antibacterial yet gentle soap. Never do it with alcohol.

Once a month is so wrong! I went to make up artist school and the rule was daily or weekly. Way too many germs on the brushes in a month. Also, do not store in the upright pencil type holders as they collect duct and dirt in that "month" without cleaning. Gross!

This is concerning. If you are cleaning your brushes then the water bowl you first wet your brush before washing, should not be the one you rinse in. That’s disgusting and now makes me question if this is standard practice at Sephora. If there was staph on the brush before washing, you reintroduce the staph by the rinse in the same bowl. Find a second bowl or use the faucet and be careful not to get water into the metal/handle part.
