Hi Katie, Have you ever considered becoming a trucker? You could sleep in your truck and be on the road at the same time. I like the videos, Thanks!

I would probably feel the safest at truck stops and rest areas too. Idk if you know this or not, but with iPhone if you click the lock button on the side of your phone 5 times it prompts you to SOS emergency. Just a helpful tip :)

Hi! I've lived/traveled in cars, but it's been a while. Thanks for the video about my favorite overnight places. I favor rest areas more because they're quieter and because I've worked at a pair of them. I have a couple of notes. Pilot/Flying J stops may have an area intended for cars and RVs. The one nearest my family does. They do not put signs on these, but you can usually spot one by a vehicle or two (or more) parked there. It's not where those continuing their travels would park, but is away from truck parking. Also, interstate rest areas in Ohio (where I worked) have signs that say, "No Camping." I checked with an ODOT supervisor when I worked there, and he stated that the signs discourage tent camping. Overnight sleeping in cars, trucks, etc., is fine. They'd much rather we do that than continue driving if we're tired.

Im re-thinling minivan camper's life. I enjoy saving my income but it is stessful to keep looking for a place to park and sleep. One bedroom would be better if its any cheaper than the stress of finding a park sleeping places

I was in my truck taking a nap and I could hear someone knocking on my passenger side door trying to get my attention I just kept my head under the covers and ignored him. Then I could hear him walking away. I looked up to see a man walking away trying to stuff a 45 down his pants. What scared him off was a mother and her children was getting into a vehicle across from me. This happened in broad daylight people coming and going. Ever since I've been unable to take a nap in my vehicle. That was 10 years ago.

Regarding rest areas.. in Washington, Oregon and California you can check with State agencies to find out how long you can stay in a rest area...8 hours in wa and CA, 12 hours in or...

I've taken one trip in my Toyota Matrix. I'm addicted!!! All I can think about is going out, again. I did stay at a Rest Area that was marked, no overnight parking. Well, it was in the middle of a torrential rainstorm at night. So, I asked a male attendant, who was cleaning up the place. I said, I know the sign says no overnight parking. But, it's really raining, and.... He was shaking his head, and said, 'Ma'am (Yes, I have long gray hair and am pushing 60. So, I was impressed. It was in the South, tho.) We have never asked anyone to leave. You stay, as long as you like. We won't tell you to leave.' So, I haven't worried about it, since. But, again, I was only out for 2 weeks. Also, have you taken any self-defense courses?

It is law in all states, no overnight parking in rest areas, this comes out of the 1930s, however, most states don’t enforce it because they would rather have you sleeping in a rest area than sleeping while driving down the road. As far as the truck stop and other places you mentioned, they are private property and the owner makes and enforces there own rules. Most loves and pilots are small truck stops and don’t have a lot of parking, but you do have the right idea. All the places you mentioned are checked on, on a regular basis as a general rule as long as you are not acting stupid, they don’t bother you. Keep on trucking.

If I was rich I would create a car hotel chain. You have to do a background check for a membership and it's basically like an rv park but free except maybe the membership fee and just for cars. Itll be just a plain gated parking lot, a couple bathrooms and showers and that's it just very simple you could make them easily in cities, along highways wherever and they would be legal and safe. 24/7 cameras, maybe a little store for essentials. I would love something like that

I've slept at a lot of truck stops with parking limits. The only time I had an issue was at an overcrowded Loves in/near Nashville that had a security guard who told us to leave after about twenty minutes. (crashed in a Waffle House parking lot that night instead which I do not rec') I'll almost always park with the RVs that will be there for several hours and provide a bit of extra security. If there's RVs parked, experience has shown me parking limits won't be enforced. If I'm stuck sleeping at a place that may actually enforce the parking limit, I'll make a less obvious sleeping set up and keep a textbook and notebook next to me so I have a built in excuse for falling asleep if ever approached (which luckily hasn't happened)

So I actually stopped at that Loves near Daytona Beach yesterday to get gas on my way to Jacksonville, its actually in Ormand Beach, 15 miles out of Daytona, but there was a sign that said no overnight car parking, which I was shocked by. I stop at that gas station frequently. It's about the half way point from where I live to Jacksonville, and I've never noticed that sign before, I think it might be new. It is a smaller Loves, so I wonder if they're keeping th parking open for just truckers.

Hey girl! Just found your videos today and I have been binging a but. Love your content, and good for you finding a life you love! I do a simular thing, kinda, with my husband. We are long haul truck drivers.... Any way just wanted to tell you about an app called trucker path that we use. It's simular to the app you used in this video. On trucker path you can see all the truck stops that are around where you are and rest areas and walmarts and it has yell you the parking spots and on the top left corner of the app there is a little button thing that will change it to like a "Google earth" type view and you can zoom in and see what the parking lot looks like before you get there... Anyway hope that helps! Also PS I don't feel comfortable going to the restroom at a rest area at night either! Get some pepper spray!! You know just in case! Stay safe! Love and light!

As a single female who travels a lot I am cautious when it comes to rest areas. And walked up to my vehicle so I started my vehicle and drove away

OK, that was informative, but I have two points first, perhaps you should explain that a TA stands for truckstops of America not that other thing. And there is a app called ‘truck stops & travel Plazas’ by allstay. That shows truck stops and rest areas on a map that you can zoom in and get a google earth view and get a lay of the land that may be helpful. I’m not sure but I think the app is free but I could be wrong. Stay safe out there.

Those rest areas with McD's and stuff like at usually located on toll roads and are called Service Areas. As a former trucker, please do not take up parking that a trucker would need. That is parking spaces for the big rigs. They do not count the parking in front of the store.

I'm moving into my car at the end of this month! Very excited & nervous. I have been living in my car off & on for a few days at a time in the last few weeks. Things are so nerve wracking at first. So I was wondering if you could maybe do some videos on living in your car for beginners or some tips. Also being a girl, what do you do about your period is that hard to manage? & hopefully it's not too personal to ask but what do you do about like wanting to be intimate with someone? I love your videos! Thank you for always being so open.
@katiecarney6 жыл бұрын
Hey girl! I did a recent video about traveling/car living for beginners, but I can absolutely make another one! Do you have any specific questions? And I’ve never had an issue with my period, actually. Quite a few people have asked about it but I just deal with it like I would in a house. And, since I’m a Christian, I will not talk about sexual intimacy on my channel.
@raiinbowzebraaa6 жыл бұрын
Katie Carney Of course! That makes sense, I just figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. So pretty much when you're on your period & making a 17 hour drive you make more frequent stops than usual? When you go to new cities what're some of the things that you prefer to go do? I went to Kansas city recently & since I'm from a city with half the population the street lights & everything was so different so that was a bit overwhelming at first lol. Did you ever have a problem with driving in new cities?
