just subscribed ,you explain things well . Years ago , ( talking 2006 ) All the fun I had with GarageBand was using their loops and then changing them to a different generator, Like say it was a drum loop , I'd create a track - with it which would also create the generator of settings for drums in that track header. Then I would drag another loop of a sound effect ,like geese sounds in a new track . That created a new track with geese loop sound and its generator / erase the loop off that track /drag the drum midi loop from its track into where the geese track used to be . It would change the drum midi loop sound into geese sounds - the drum midi loop would now sound like geese in what ever pattern the drum played because the generator of that track was still geese sound effect . I dont' know if it lets you do that anymore , some warning signs come up or they just flat out don't let you do it . But it added great back ground percussion. I'm going to get logic , as an old man I see GarageBand has limited loops , I would say the loops were much better in 2006 ,When they also offered a thing called Jam Packs. I'm hoping logic has better loops From what you went over I see it offers WAY better control. It's so easy now , in 2000 I had 'Performer ' you had to strike a SMPTE code on one of the eight tracks of a 8 track reel to reel to record vocals and real instruments , it was a straight out nightmare .
