My Father opened a 5 years RD. However, after his death in april 2020, I, nominee on that RD, continued to run the rd and paid regular installments till april 2024. This is when RD matured..However i just got the cheque today and no interest for last 5 years is added to the amount. We checked with the PO authority and they are denying any interest even though RD matured and all the installments were paid by nominee. What is use of keeping money in post office RD if no interest is to be levied. Please suggest what should be done in the matter. Plus the amount they giving in cheque will levy another 30% tax per my tax slab which means instead of getting any interest i actually lost money even after religiously paying all installments for 5 years. What is this GOVT run scam? Please suggest possible actions.
