Today we are going to clean the bathroom from top to bottom, and talk about how to keep it clean. Chad and I tell a couple funny bathroom stories about the kids.

We're new subscribers and enjoyed this video. As a former Home Economics professor, who studied bacteriology and micro-biology in college, may I pass on some research info.? Many studies have been done about house hold germs. The findings are that it's best to wear disposable gloves, especially when cleaning the toilet in your home. Even though it's your home and you keep it clean, you can still become sick from e. coli that is found in and on every toilet, even your own. Also, researchers recommend using disposable Viva type heavy duty, paper towels to clean the toilet. Use one for scrubbing the surface and a clean one for rinsing and then put them in the trash. Use a designated mop bucket for mopping the bathroom floor, never use the bathroom sink. Dirty water splashed up on your clean sink, counter top and faucet. Studies have shown that disposable paper towels are, in fact, best to use on all bathroom surfaces. But, if you do use cleaning rags, never wash them with your towels and wash cloths. The heat from the clothes washer and dryer is not hot enough to kill harmful germs from cleaning rags. Wash cleaning rags separately in hot water with bleach and detergent. Lastly, it has been found that reusing the same wash cloth and towel from one day to the next, without washing it, can transmit germs. It's called "Cross Contamination". Think about washing/drying your bottom and your feet and then re-using the same wash cloth and towel the next day to wash and dry your face! This research is especially helpful if there are small children, elderly, ill, or someone with a compromised immune system living in your home.

As basic as these videos may seem to some, I think it can be so helpful to go back the simple steps. I think this helps with those who may be overwhelmed. There are many situations where the troubles of life take over. You may struggle with depression, you may be a single parent and are outnumbered, or you may be looking for videos to show your kiddos how to clean. This can be very helpful. Thanks so much!

This is so true. Some may think you are being "lazy" because they don't understand. But, life does and can get in the way. I use to be the type to do cleaning as a way to relax. I have had several losses the last three years and now get over whelmed with it. I am trying to get back to that.

Couldn't agree more. I'm preparing to sell my house and move in with my fiancé, I'm determined to get rid of everything that's surplus to requirement in advance of that, redecorate and give the house a thorough deep clean. Houses sell for more when they look like a show house and it is foolish to lose money for the want of some graft. But I've also had some difficult life experiences in the last few years and overall the project looks huge to me at the moment, so breaking it down into smaller chunks helps a lot.

So I am 28, have 2 kids age 7 and 1. You would think by this point I would have known that cleaning your kitchen sink is something that you should do regularly. Ours had these marks on it that I thought was just stains that couldn't be removed. Well I watched your video and then thought hmm, I have baking soda let's clean my sink and get all those germs out of it. Totally didn't even think it would remove those marks. Well my sink is as silver as can be and I can't tell you the happiness that overtakes me every time I am doing dishes and see that sparkly clean sink!! so thank you! Your family continues to bring me joy!

But since falling pregnant with my second baby I’ve been soo tired/nauseous that I’ve neglected it a lot. I think what I enjoy the most about watching Grandma and Grandpa is seeing the little traits come out that I see in Bonnie, Ruby, Ellie and Julie. I'm always giggling to myself when I hear or see the obvious things that I know they got from their Mom or Dad. :D It's like "ah" that sounds just little Bonnie or just like Ruby! The kids didn't fall far from the apple tree in that family. :)

Thank you for doing this video Jennifer. I think it’s so important for young teens to have a wonderful grandma Griffith to show exactly what to do. I’m a BIG sister and some of these children have never been in a home long enough to be taught with love and care. I showed this video tonight and the girls were in awe saying I didn’t know that? Also I appreciate how you talked about working your way up to this beautiful home. This really was important for the girls to hear and we struck up a conversation that was so loving as these girls don’t have much of their own but a few personal items. I said all things are possible. Please continue to do a few more of these loving videos with Chad. I just sent a link to several teachers like myself to show your video as they no longer teach home care, cooking or shop in the schools we work at. This is the new age of teaching young adults which is wonderful but boy do I still wish they provided these classes especially where we teach as many children do not have a two parent home, a mother is working several jobs and families are just trying to survive. Would you consider a few cooking videos like Ellie’s Belly that I could show for the young youth to make a dollar stretch? You teach with such love and a servants heart. Thank you.❤️🙏🏻

You two are so cute! I used to clean a lady’s house in my ward as a teenager to earn some extra spending money. She had REALLY high expectations of cleanliness, which I’ve carried with me into my adult life. For the past ten years, my husband and I have worked full time and I just could not devote the time needed to getting my house clean, so I hired it out! Best decision I ever made. Though now that we’re expecting our first child and I may become a stay-at-home mom (still deciding), I may have to get back to cleaning my own bathrooms again. 😱 Thanks for the sweet video!

To be honest while my bathroom is regularly cleaned, I have struggled with grime build up in forgotten corners. I just never dusted my bathroom, this is a game changer for me! As a wife and mother I love that you enjoy making a house a home. I remember Ruby in a vlog telling her children the same process about the getting out of the shower. It was so true when she noted how cared for your home(particularly your bathroom) is after all these years. That’s a great story. My husband taught our kids how to “shower” also because they would also get water all over and would take the longest showers. My oldest didn’t think he should have to use his towel more than once. But we explained if he was showering properly he should have been clean. So my husband volunteered to watch how he showered to make sure he was getting himself clean so that he could use his towel more than once. Apparently that suggestion worked because he didn’t get water all over showers were shorter and he used his towel more than once. Oh the joys of parenting.

When she and my grandfather bought their first home it was 100 years old! They redid very surface and that place was as shiny a diamond! They kept their second home just as spotless. When Gramma got sick hey hired a cleaning service and were never really happy with it. Gramma died 40 yrs ago. My grandfather 5 yrs ago. The smell of “clean” STILL makes me think of them! THANK YOU for reminding me of the power of clean! And that I need to teach my own granddaughter! 🌹🙏🏼🌹

Janet Gray I had a similar upbringing and now that I’m 44, not much has changed re: my mother’s behaviour. She likes to find the negatives in everyone OR sometimes it’s not even a negative but rather a different way of doing things. She will say “why are you doing it like that? I do it this way” (even how to vacuum (ie the pattern you take). It’s really frustrating. Luckily I don’t live too close to her. I know she believes she is “helping” so I forgive her. She’s 65 now so I don’t think she will ever change. She also didn’t teach me how to cook or clean, she did everything herself and I had to learn through listening to other women talk about cleaning and reading instructions from cleaning products! I wish I had had access to this KZbin channel back in 1991. Thank you Mrs Griffiths for a great, honest, refreshing video!! And good luck Janet. Keep cleaning 😊👍🏻

The majority of young people are growing up with no life skills and hence they buy 'ready-made' food, and everywhere are infestations of bed bugs etc. because homes are not clean. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Two nights ago, I went out to the kitchen to get a glass of water, and saw a sink full of dishes. I HAD to do them, your video stuck with me, haha! Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I really appreciate them.

Love these videos. Your whole family is so real and down to earth. Ruby did a video showing her kids how to get out of shower correctly. I think it stuck with her ;) hahaha!

Grandma and grandpa G, I know Ellie and Jarad have so many people posting on their videos they can’t read them all so I thought I’d mention this to you ☺️. Jackson has all of the beautiful new polished rocks, my son was also fond of rocks and polished them. One Mother’s Day Michael gave me a wrapped gift and was so excited for me to open it, it was one of his rocks that a jeweler had made into a necklace. He’s in law enforcement now and I still wear the necklace. It’s one of my most cherished possessions 😍. Maybe you can put a bug in Jarad’s and Jackson’s ear about making one for mommy for Mother’s Day or valentines etc. Ellie was exclaiming about a soft pink colored stone in the finished batch from yesterday. Wink wink.

Say a prayer for me! I was an only child. My mom and I used the upstairs and my Dad downstairs! My family uses the same cleaning supplies and I love them, however....I have now been blessed with 4 sons! I feel outnumbered. Wieners are everywhere! Hugs!

K Dopp: Easy. Start teaching your boys how to clean. Start them young with whatever tasks they can handle. Teach them that keeping the home clean is everyone's job and not just "mom's". Clleaning house is not "girl's" and "women's" work.

This is so helpful! Even I, an experienced clean mom, never thought of polishing the chrome. How do you become so... thoughtful? I always feel like life is a big rush and in the moment I never feel I have time to put things away or polish the Chrome!

Excellent advice! I'm 30 now, with two young children and a husband. But I wasn't taught a lot of simple things like this when I was younger. Much of what I do has just been figured out along the way. But it is just so helpful to learn all of this. Thanks!

Thank you for taking the time to share this. I grew up in a very unhappy home. My mom did her best by us, but it was just best for me to stay out of my dad's way, so I spent as much time as possible up in my bedroom. I missed out on so much of this basic teaching because my mom was trying to protect me. I believe she did right by me, but I have found that my cleaning skills are definitely lacking. I get by, but my home isn't always ready for the magazine photographers like my mom's is. Thank you for sharing!

You are so awesome!!!! Love you guys!!! I do this every monday from top to bottom and then I keep it the best I can!!!! You are so good to do this to teach people my Grandmother taught me how to do somethings but she worked so she depended on me to pickup the slack. I didn't have my mom around she worked a lot she was raising 6 on her own well with my grandparents help. But I ask my mom one time how come the oven isn't clean and she said well I always had my husbands do it. I always had a self cleaning oven and I would clean it out as soon as anything would drip. But I thank you for this because even though I'm a grandma now I watch and learn all I can about this.. I even watch how to make a bed like a high end hotel so I can make my guests feel like they stay at one or a fresh clean crip bed and a nurse had made my bed in the hospital and she would sprinkle baby powder on my sheets and it was so soft and I smells good too!!
