I've had a Model 200 for a couple of years. Just picked up a M206. Got them both on sale for $179 each. They normally run $250-$300 here in southern Indiana, but they go on sale often. And RIA does have really good customer service !

I do a field strip but then also remove the left side panel. Then I go about 10 mins in my ultrasonic cleaner. Then re-lube it and head to the range!!

After I thoroughly clean the barrel, I also run a Ballistol-sprayed bore-snake though it several times from the chamber end. Also, when cleaning the cylinder chambers, don't forget to clean under the extractor star, as burned powder and debris can collect under the extractor star and prevent the cylinder from closing. A small can of compressed air or toothbrush can be used. I cringed when I saw you "Bogart" that cylinder into the frame.

Yes, the oiled bore snake is a great idea especially if the gun is in storage.

What brand of cleaning rods are you using, I like those.
Looking to get the m200 myself. how often do you recommend cleaning it?
@reverendguns Жыл бұрын
I would clean it after each day of shooting. If you're shooting several hundred rounds, a bore snake would be helpful while you're at the range.if you use it for your carry, at least once a month. If it's being stored, at least once a year.

What’s a good cleaning kit to buy also what do you use in the spray bottle
@reverendguns Жыл бұрын
I'm using Shooter Lube. I like their solvent, I'm not impressed with the oil. Any kit will work. You want to make sure it has the caliber sizes you need for your pistols. Everything except the oil and cleaner, can be bought for under $20.

I haven't had any issues yet. In .y opinion, the front sight sucks, and the trigger is rough and heavy. You get what you pay for.

I feel like a real idiot asking this question, but I'm desperate for help. I recently bought a pre-owned, and apparently rarely fired m 200 with beautiful wood grips, to go with my m 206. I think I have really messed up my m 200. I don't even know why I did it, but I loosened the cap on the front of my ejection rod, and the star at the rear of the rod came off. I CAN tighten it fully, but then the holes don't line up with the stars. To get the cylinder holes to align with the stars, the star is only finger tight. Other than that, the gun worked flawlessly at the range, where I put about 100 rounds through it before I messed it up. PLEASE advise me. I've tried tightening the ejector rod cap at the front, but that doesn't seem to address the problem. Thanks in advance.
@reverendguns11 ай бұрын
The cap at the front of the ejector rod only needs to be finger tight. It's not necessary to crank it extremely tight. Is there problems after you tighten the cap?
@matthewrobinson432311 ай бұрын
@@reverendguns Well, the problem isn't at the front, but at the back. The ejector star will not align with the chambers in the cylinder if tightened fully. I can set the star on the two tips, and everything lines up correctly, but then the star is only finger tight. I realize it's not going to fall off with everything closed, but I'm concerned that using the ejector rod to empty the casing will cause the star to go flying off.

@@reverendguns Thank you. That's very gracious of you. My problem I guess is the initial indexing of the star on the shaft threads.

Damn ! You're oiling that revolver like its a salad. And honestly, its best to use a bore brush that is bigger than the bore and cylinder holes. For example- 40 or 45 caliber brush on a 38-357-9mm handgun.

@@reverendgunsIf I just bought mine and wiped all the excess oil off do I really need to spray degreaser on it and clean it thoroughly? I haven’t even shot it yet
@reverendguns Жыл бұрын
Yes, all guns are fired once at the manufacturer. You don't know how it was handled and stored before it was in your possession. So it would behoove you to clean it thoroughly and lube it before you shoot it.
@shadowwolf950310 ай бұрын
@@NoWeyJoseAll new guns should be field stripped, inspected and cleaned and oiled before firing them. Especially these RIA's. They are heavily coated in storage grade grease. I don't take the side plate off on these, but I do take off the grips. I oil the mainspring and put a few drops of oil in the action. Then I cock and uncock the revolver several times.
