Yeah I would think so. Just be sure it’s new and doesn’t have oil from boots on it.

Hi there, I love all your videos on cowboy hats. I'm wondering if you ever tried a bit of dishwashing liquid (Dawn) or vinegar and water. They both seem a very safe option to not damage the hat.

We haven’t however that combination sounds like it would work great. Typically we try to use minimal amounts of fluid as to not distort the hat or the coating on the hat. So that’s why we use wet wipes and or windex. But I’m sure your solution would work great! Thanks for the tip!

Does anyone have a way to stop the straw hat from stinking when it gets wet? Because I was wearing it riding when it started raining and after I got back and the hat dried it stunk so bad, why does that happen and how to stop that?

Morgan, I have found that spraying the hat down with Febreeze or with dry shampoo can help fix as stinky hat. Sometimes I will even put a dryer sheet in the sweat band and that can help a lot too!

HELP!!! QUESTION - I bought my husband a light colored Stetson straw cowboy hat for his birthday, and after wearing it in the sun every day for a week, the inner hat band had bled its green dye through to the outside of the hat. We tried s rubbing it and it won’t come off! I was thinking that we should just spray paint the whole straw hat, with brown paint, to cover up the green stain, or maybe dye the whole hat dark brown, but my husband thought that might not work.. So my question is : How do I remove this green stain that bled onto the straw hat, from the inter hat band??? Also, if we can’t get the stain out, is there a specific. sue or paint that we can use to color the straw hat darker, to cover the stains?

I ain't gonna lie. Take it to a professional cleaner or the shop where you bought it. It seems to be either a defect or the band is bad material-wise. Stetson hats are easy and good to clean as long as you don't use heavy chemicals.

Anyway to remove sweat stains from the crown base?

I’ve found that spraying dry shampoo/ baby powder and allowing it time to soak up the stain and brushing it off works the best. Unfortunately, it will only do so much. Just make sure not to use a water based product on a straw if you’re working at getting stains out.
