I watched several blind cleaning videos & your looks by far the easiest & most thorough. I will use this method & let you know. Thanks

I saw another guy do this. Then took his blower and dried them so he could get more done. But it's the same method. Thank you. You 2 are the only ones I've seen this method. Everyone else has a different method. When you see multiple doing the same thing you KNOW that you're doing it right.

Thanks for your video. I implemented your method this morning when I completed a job at a local home and as you said, I didn't have to touch a single blade. The blinds looked like new when I had finished and my customer was beyond pleased. Thanks for making my life easier and giving me yet another handy tool to utilize.

I may build a jig stand out of 2x4 lumber to get both sides fast. Also tip, use a weed sprayer instead of killing your hands with a spray bottle.

another option is if you have clothes lines, hang them on it. The sprayer, I agree, however, I was at my daughter's when I filmed this and she did not have one. I used the sprayer at home and in my business, especially when we had large floor areas to clean. Piece of cake! Thanks for viewing. Enjoy the Clean!

I hang ours from the patio and use Dawn dish detergent and a very soft long bristle brush. The dust literally flies off when I brush over them then rinse them well.

I loved this idea. Ordered the Krud Kutter from Amazon. Hung my at least 30 year old aluminum blinds between two bird feeder poles. Sprayed the Krud Kutter on and could see the dirt dripping off. Was surprised how yellow the liquid on the ground was. Sprayed the back of the blinds too as they were dirty on both surfaces. Rinsed and discovered that some of the paint was coming off, now have partly silver blinds. Much worse on the back side, which has had the most exposure to sun. Finally read the instructions on the Krud Kutter bottle. I was supposed to dilute it to 1 ½ cups per gallon for mini blinds. Well, time to give up on DIY (this is not my first failure this month!) and start hiring competent professionals.

I'm assuming this product is environment friendly but regardless if it is or not I would spray the area first where the product would run into the ground. It dilutes the chemicals so that it doesn't hurt animals or soil. I'm not one of those people who constantly give negative feedback for things like this but it might help someone who comes across this video to help change their habits for cleaning products when using outside. Any little process we can do to help out the environment and the outside life especially the bee's is a plus in my book. I'm going to give this a try soon and it looks like this is way to go because I've always cleaned my blinds with elbow grease and with two cancers I just don't have the strength to do it that way any longer. Thanks for an easier way to clean blinds.

Doesn't mention how to clean the corded string in between each blind! These cords get dirty also! Do you have to drip dry these blinds and then wipe off as some aluminium blinds tend to need a wipe (after cleaning) in order to bring up the shine. I personally immerse each blind in the bath (with a few squirts of bubble bath) and lift up and down in order to clean. Wrap in some old towels, take to the washing line and hang by using a few bungee's. When hanging back, use a dry clean old flannel to bring up the shine.

They should have been vacuumed first before applying water otherwise all the dirt goes onto the cord making them dirty as you can see here.

We did that with our aluminum blinds and the color came off. Now we have aluminum blinds. That Krud killer needed to be diluted for aluminum blinds.

Urgh, I just discovered the other day that when the previous owners remodelled our house, they put the top window frame/lintel over the blinds...so you can’t get them down without ripping the woodwork off 😢😢😢. It takes me 1-2 hours to clean each blind thoroughly in situ, and we have 24 of the darn things...Can’t even replace them with curtains without destroying the window frames...

Tape a plastic tarp high up on window and let it create a rug effect under window. (Make sure tarp has no holes.). Then place multi sheets on/around tarp. Spray cleaner; followed by a wash from a pressurized garden sprayer having the sheets collect run off. Might take a couple of goes the first time if extremely dirty. Otherwise an annual or every other year should require just a ‘quick clean’. Good luck.

@@CuriousCat777 A local service I called for an estimate wanted $200 for ONE vertical blind that covers a 5' set of french doors and $500 for TWO wood window blinds that were much smaller sq ft wise. Hence, I am doing them myself...using Dawn dish soap - also a good 'crud cutter' that gets off the cig smoke.

Don’t they warp? Doesn’t water get into the mechanism and rust the inside metal parts?
@jandougherty1256
@jandougherty1256 2 жыл бұрын
No there is no warping. You are not soaking the blinds. You are rather quickly washing them and letting them drain (tilting). The metal parts again are mostly aluminum and don't rust. I've cleaned hundreds of blinds and many numerous times with no damage. Just clean!

Small pump up sprayer would cut your work in half. Also, the product called "Awesome" is extremely cheap, but is THE best cleaner on the market.
@jandougherty1256
@jandougherty1256 3 жыл бұрын
I agree about the pump sprayer, but I was in Washington cleaning my daughter's blinds and did not have my equipment. I don't know about "Awesome" or how much it costs. I cleaned the blinds using a 5:1 dilution of Krud Kutter. A gallon costs about $15. at a 5:1 dilution a 30 ounce bottle costs approximately $.59 that is CHEAP! If 30 ounces of "Awesome" costs less than that it IS a good deal!

@@jandougherty1256 it's about $1 for a decent size bottle. 64oz. So far I've cleaned a lot of things with it. No discoloration afterwards. And really gets hard stuff out. It has no acid, amonia or bleach in it. Not sure it cleans without that stuff. But it does.

Growing up we didn't have any space outside either. I washed them in the bath tub. Drop the blind fully open and then remove from window. Put about 4-5 inches of warm water in the tub with a good shot of Krud Kutter. Lower the blind into tub and let it soak for a bit. use a rag and swoosh around blades. Make sure you wash cords since they get so dirty from handling. If only cleaning one drain tub and rinse either with shower hose or buckets of water. Grab whole blind and stand up in tub to drain. I would hang them back up when most of water has drained off and finish (dry) with clean soft rag. This should do the trick since it really is the Krud Kutter than does the cleaning when done outside. Good luck, let me know how it turns out.
