It actually does help, if you have brand new oil straight from the bottle it will not brown the food quite as well. If you cook some fries first you allow some of oil to break down a little which makes the fish brown up better. Good fry places always leave some of the old oil in when they change oil in the fryers for this reason.

I've never heard that tip in all my years of fishing. We all have weaknesses and catfish are mine. Dude that is one slick trick I never knew, to dunk, batter, and dump in the oil. That completely eliminated the clumpiness and much better results. Thanks a bunch, keep the tips and tricks flowin'!

Thanks for sharing that style of cleaning cats, never seen that before, I'll try it👍 I'll share my favorite fish fry 1 part Andy's "Red" batter mix to 1 part "Trying Magic" batter mix Salt and pepper (or Larry's or garlic salt or lemon pepper) to taste Whisk 3eggs and whole milk to suit (I like my mix still yellow, not white) Frank's hot sauce or Tabasco to taste in the egg/milk bowl Dip fillets in egg mix and dredge in batter mix then release into hot peanut oil (peanut oil has a higher temp rating- burnt oil ruins mother nature's bounty). I also use this for Morel Mushrooms, it is my Moms recipe but I've changed it up over the years adding Andy's, 4-5 dashes hot sauce. For a spicy cagun style a little bit of crushed cayenne pepper adds a lot of clever to the batter. Enjoy Great vid Thanks for sharing!
