Thank you very much for your assistance replacing and cleaning my Orbeck XL! Your presentation was very easy to understand and follow. I successfully replaced the belt, and throughly cleaned the underside! I purchased this Orbeck at a local garage sale. Best $10 spent!! I’m so happy!!

I love this machine! kzbin.infoUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g Assembly was a snap, only the handle had to be put on and it slides right in. Then a container filled with water and solution. This is not a vacumme cleaner, although the makers say you don't need to vacumme first. It is mainly for solid floor surfaces, but has a rug setting too. I have no rugs, so only used it on my pine wood floors. The machine has a mopping type rolling thing on the bottom, that scrubs the floor with water mixed with cleaning solution. A small bottle of the solution comes with the machine. Dirty water goes into a second compartment. The machine work worked quite well. It isn't very loud, and my floor looks so much better than when I mop it. Best of all, it is so much easier and less messy to use than a mop and bucket! I had a couple of things that might be nice, but not necessary. One is if the cord would retract into the machine instead of having to be managed with one hand. The other is that the amount of floor covered by the amount of solution seemed to be less than stated. But then, I might have gone over the floor more times than intended. I hope I can find the cleaning solution easily, I don't know how available it will be!

Thanks for a wonderful video! My vacuum was jammed up with pet hair. I followed your directions exactly and cleaned everything. I used my canister vacuum to clean out the inside and noticed there was hair around the motor, so I vacuumed around it. I guess that's why there was a burning smell the last time I used it. I noticed belt was half torn and replaced it. I usually have a hard time with belt but your tip made it much easier. Thanks again - you saved me from paying a $35 repair fee. Vacuum now works better than it has in a long time. :)

That brush is made to turn 180 degrees when the bristles start to get worn down. The grooves on the top (the way you put it back in) for when it is brand new. You put those grooves on the bottom for when it is a couple years old,(depending on usage). What this does is it puts the bristles closer to the floor for when they have gotten worn down some. If you switch yours, you will notice a big difference in the way it propels itself compared to before you switch it. Thanks for the video.

That actually no longer changes the height of the roller. They just never changed the die at the shop to remove the words new and old. It was in an Oreck service bulletin. The old and new only worked on the rollers that were painted like a gray silver color.

Your video was great!! Thanks. On mine, I used a torx head T20 in place of a Phillips screw driver. How do you remove the wheels? I have hair binding the 2 back wheels.

My belt looked fine so I didn't replace it. No cracks, didn't look dried out or anything, so I figure it's still good.

+Diane Watson Flat belts stretch. If the belt is over a year old, replace it. Buy a 2 pack so you can keep the other in the bottom plate.

+Diane Watson Yeah they're tricky to reinstall. Feeling the difference between new and old, you can tell how much stretch occurs over time. The brushroll will agitate much better with a new belt! :)

Hey there. can you please publish the mechanism for the internal bag and how to attach it. For some reason my displaced and all the dust was inside the bag. After I cleaned it, I am not sure if any of the parts are lost and how the inside is made out. It is hard to find even a spec on these at the official website. Thanks.

I did the same thing, the bag came off w/out my knowledge & I had one heck of a mess cleaning the bag out, finished w/a dust buster then lightly washed the inside of bag w/a cloth, but attaching that bag is tricky & iffy.

The overall quality of Oreck machines for the residential market is going down. I'd change the motor if I were you. I foolishly tossed mine when I couldn't fix the fan (new fan didn't fit right) and regret it.

What causes a burning smell in an orek that seen to be clean enough?
@garrettdodson6110

You didn't mention anything about changing the felt pivot seal, the inch long baseplate seal, small felt seal that goes behind the fan (which requires removal of the fan Houston and fan from the motor), you didn't mention tightening the detent screws which often come from locking and unlocking the vacuum, or polishing the copper commutator and belt shaft with a diamond motor brush stick. There's certainly more to servicing an Oreck other than opening the vacuum bottom blowing it out wiping it clean and replacing the belt. There's the removal of the brushroller end caps to clear hIr and string from bearings. That particular roller had the metal pulley which unscrews to remove the end cap. Also on end cap is thicker than the other which is the one that goes on the pulley side. And you didn't remove the collars on the back tube for disassembly to clean the connector neck or the fan housing neck or the rubber o-rings which often come coated in fine fine dust allowing the tube to slip.
