One of my local viewers was having some serious problems with her sewing machine. The repair shop told her to bring it in for service, but she so badly needed to finish her project. She took to the internet and found this video. She followed my instructions and she personally called me to tell me that she was so over joyed to find my video and now her machine purrs like a kitten! So happy that I can share techniques with my viewers. Thank you all so much for watching and I hope you are subscribers...Happy Sewing!

Hi Niler, This was such a helpful video- I have been cleaning my sewing room and put my manual into a "safe" place and I may not see it for years-I spent several hours searching for a manual to help and I happened upon your tutorial. It is perfect! Simple and right to the point. I have not cleaned or oiled my machine in 3 years. I have a squeek that now demands attention. Short of flames shooting out, I am now going to do it much more often. Now that I see how easy it really is! Thanks so much.

Excellent video Niler!!! This is a very clear demonstration of sewing machine maintenance. I have a couple of suggestions that may or may not be useful: I would start by cleaning the top section first, then the bobbin area. Also add q-tips to the cleaning tools. They are small enough to get to tough to reach areas. Thanks so much.

Thank you SO much! My local sewing machine store wanted to charge me $179 to clean and oil my sewing machine and make it "like new".... well, my machine didn't even cost that much brand new, so there was no way I was going to pay that much for them to clean and oil it. Your video was very easy to understand and follow. Thank you thank you thank you!

You are so welcome. I have a "cool" repairman in my town. He serviced all my machines when I had my alteration shop (over 10 machines). I do not sew very often. I appreciate your explanation of the approximate cleaning schedule. My manual just says "as needed" or "regularly". That does not tell me ANYTHING! I also appreciate the oiling demonstration. The picture in my manual jus points to an ambiguous location in the bobbin assembly and tells me to put a drop or two where the arrow points. Now I understand what the oil is doing.

I put my Janome 2014 into yearly maintenance service at Meissner's. The service guy called me and asked if I was using canned air when cleaning the machine. I said 'yes'. He said 'don't do that!' because it blows the dust up and into the mechanisms, coats the gears, and everything else. When I took my free lessons with the purchase of my Janome, the teacher also said to use canned air. As for me, I will take the service guy's advise to heart.
@NilerTaylor-relindesigns7 жыл бұрын
You should do exactly what "your" repair person said because that works for "you". I only shared what works for "me". I've been using the canned air for 25 years. I have not had a problem; my machine (all 4 of them) work just fine i guess it's all in the way the you aim the air. I'm not trying to influence you...do what you feel is right and I will do the same. Thanks for sharing your experience with "your" repair person and for watching my video....Happy Sewing!
