Hi - You are correct, your machine is different from the standard Bernina bobbin case. We do need to do a video on this type of hook system. Thanks! ~Sara~

Awesome, quick, to-the-point video on how to clean/oil your Bernina sewing machine. I’m sewing hundreds of face masks, and my machine was “acting up” and sounded “funny” - this has solved the issue (forgot I was supposed to do this as it’s been years since I did this much sewing!).

Thank you for this demo. It helped me get the hook back in place in my machine. Tipping the machine back is a good idea because you can then see where the hook needs to be. -Vera in Pennsylvania

A hint; something I thought of myself while oiling the Bernina 530 Record, which is an oldie but a goodie. Each moving part needs only a very small amount of oil and even the cans supplied by the makers often deliver too much. Ask the vet for a medium bore injection needle with the sharp point cut off. Attach a short length of plastic tubing to the other end of this. Slip the remaining end of the tube onto the nozzle of a small plastic bottle with sewing machine oil in it. Cheers, Peter.

Hi - You will need a light sewing machine oil available at sewing machine stores or fabric stores such as JoAnn's or Hancock fabrics. Thanks! ~Sara~

Absolutely true! The 3 in 1 oil should be boycotted, even though it has a cynical and misleading image of a sewing machine on its label. The stuff contains linseed oil which accumulates on the machinery in a claggy yellow/brown mess, slowly becoming thicker and stickier, eventually slowing the machine down as dust and lint adhere to it. It could also become a guarantee issue if push ever came to shove in a dispute over the cause of part failure. Cheers, Peter, NZ.

Hi! I really hope someone can answer this - do you need to oil the top part? If so, how? I feel that the top tread is very tense, even if it's on 0-1 on the tensions setting. I thought that's because I haven't oiled the top. But then I can't find any information on how to do that. Even the manual suggest that you only oil the bottom, where the bobbin is.

I love my Bernina machine but my local Bernina Dealer Service is a ripoff. She charges a fortune for a cleaning and to oil the machine and the work is done by her unskilled/clueless daughter. THIS is a great video... but it's very sad the Bernina site doesn't sell high quality sewing machine oil and an have an official instructional video on how to do it yourself. how hard can it be if this woman's unskilled daughter is doing it.

Anyone try to change the bulb in a 1090? I removed my burnt out bulb bu can't seem to put a new one in. Even using a mirror to try to make sure I'm in the right place. I think sometimes I don't have it straight up and down enough, and also I don't know how far to turn it once I feel it click in place ready to turn. Any suggestions?
@sassylady1098
@sassylady1098 6 жыл бұрын
I have changed the bulbs in my 1090 and 1090s. I found I didn't need a mirror - it was easier by feel - pull out the plastic covering the lights - not taking it off, but sliding it out. Then put the new bulb in the end of the bulb remover and move the holder with the bulb on it around until it feels like it is in place and move it up into place - firmly but not to hard. Turn the holder in your hand and you should feel the bulb click/move into place.
