I have a 2012 Sonata with 2.0 got a P0016 and P0017 replaced VVT noticed bronze colored metal shavings on exhaust side VVT threw code P0017 a few more times pulled the exhaust VVT been 30 day more metal shavings. Is this a symptom of the engine recall? Car runs fine no loss of power has slight vibration at idle. I get a slight tick when first start in the morning for about 2 seconds. Its not giving symptoms for timing chain. What could it be? Im at a loss on this one.

@@Richardgg94 It was the solenoid. Took all of 3 minutes to replace.

Will this help with oil consumption. My 2014 Santa Fe loses/burns don’t know what’s happening. No smoke 💨. Already changed the pcv valve

Same here man, my car now consumes a quart every couple days. I do Uber and I’m afraid I may need engine replacement.

@@KrisTheCodeManDude same Right now with my oil changes I’m using 10w40 valvoline high mileage The oil consumption isn’t as bad with the thicker oil but still there. Especially have to change the oil every 3k miles instead of the manufacture specs of every 7500 miles

I’ll try a heavier oil then. I’m doing so much research but no solid answer yet. At 136,000 miles. I’m hoping Hyundai will back a replacement engine.

@@KrisTheCodeManDude it definitely helps for sure I also have done the CRC GDI intake cleaner too. If you are gonna try for a new engine. Hope it goes well I’m gonna be trading ours in in the near future for a little bigger vehicle,since the kids are getting bigger and more activities.
